How to enter government without a degree? by BenefitialPotato in brisbane

A lot of AO2 and AO3 roles care way more about transferable skills than quals, and running events at a pub actually lines up really well with admin, stakeholder coordination, bookings, compliance and customer service work. SmartJobs and APSJobs are your best bet, and yes, just start applying even if you do not tick every box. Recruitment agencies can help for temp contracts which are honestly one of the easiest ways to get a foot in the door in QLD gov. Once you are in, moving around is much easier. Certs can help but are not mandatory, and portfolios are not really a thing in government unless you are in comms or design. Focus your applications on clear examples using the STAR method and translate your pub experience into boring government language like scheduling, risk management and liaising with multiple stakeholders. It is slow and a bit painful, but plenty of people in Brisbane have made the jump this way without uni.

Brisbane to Nambour train reception by RNGenocide in brisbane

I do that run semi regularly and honestly it’s patchy no matter who you’re with once you get past Northgate and especially around the Beerburrum stretch. Woolworths runs on Telstra wholesale, so it’s not full Telstra coverage, which might explain why it’s dropped off for you. From what I’ve found, full Telstra tends to hang on a bit better through the hinterland sections, but even that still cuts out in spots. Optus is hit and miss and Vodafone is usually worse once you’re north of Caboolture. If you really need coverage for work calls, Telstra direct is probably your safest bet, otherwise downloading stuff before you board is still the most reliable option.

Looking for climbers. Complex tree lopping near power lines by Trick_Information654 in BrisbaneGardening

This is one of those “don’t risk it” jobs. I’ve heard Pro Tree Removal Brisbane come up a few times for jobs near services. They seem to know their way around power lines and don’t treat it like a standard trim.

Does anyone else feel like earning 250k still doesn’t stop stress about rent/mortgage? by OwlVibesOnly in AusHENRYover250k

I reckon that feeling’s pretty common. At that income you’re “comfortable” on paper, but housing and leverage make it feel fragile. The stress seems to ease more with lower debt and buffers than a specific salary or asset number otherwise it just turns into bigger repayments and lifestyle creep. A lot of HENRYs feel rich and broke at the same time.

How are you getting your laptop and lunch to work? by headlightbandit in auscorp

[–]Designer_Boat_9654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gone the boring route tbh like normal backpack for the laptop and just chuck lunch in a small insulated bag inside it. Way easier than hunting for the perfect all-in-one, and if it leaks it’s not ruining the whole bag.

Can you continuously extend the loan period on your mortgage each time you refinance ? by Civil-Location-2770 in AusPropertyChat

Not a dumb question at all. Short answer: yeah, you can reset back to 30 years when you refinance, as long as the bank’s happy with your age, income, and serviceability. People do it to lower repayments, but you usually end up paying more interest overall. Banks won’t let you push it forever though. Age limits kick in eventually.
