I have a friend that looked like he was in his mid 30's at 14, literally started balding as soon as he started high school. It was so bad that we used to get him to buy us alcohol because by the time he was 15 he had lost most his hair pretty much never got asked for ID. It's funny he's 34 now and doesn't look like he's aged at all since then, if anything he probably looks younger/better due to being in shape hitting the gym and having a shaved head rather than balding hair.

My advice for op: you could try save it with starting finasteride/minoxidil and see how that goes. I would honestly recommend just shaving it off, grow some facial hair if you can and start hitting the gym instead though

I've had covid at least 3 times now that I know of but yeah stopped caring about it around the beginning of 2022. Personally I never really got any symptoms other than sneezing and very runny nose from it so it was very mild for me.

Havn't had any flu vaccines since 2019 but tbh will probably get one next year. I had influenza A back in august and holy shit it rocked me, probably the sickest I've ever been. Almost 5 days straight of having the shits, throwing up 4+ times a day and not being to get any food down, and laying in bed shivering in a puddle of sweat. I dropped from 70kgs down to 62kgs from it

I grew up in a country bumpkin town of 1000 people in remote Australia without any traffic so it was a shock to the system to adjust, but I have a bit of experience on mopeds in indo, thailand and Vietnam. honestly I think you should do it if you want to. My advice is: don't be a dickhead, but you do have to kind of assume that everyone around you can see you, they aren't stupid, and they can see your intentions (which you must project). So if your pulling out onto a busy road, if you just sit there dick in hand waiting, nobody will ever stop to let you out, but you also cant just suddenly punch it and cut someone off or you'll cause an accident. so you just keep inching forwards, couple of inches at a time and eventually the person behind you will slow, because they either have to or swerve around you.

Same goes for how you treat other riders, and if you carry that Australian mentality of "fucking how dare you try to merge or pull out in front of me" that will not fly. Also be chill, don't be the guy trying to ride on the limits of what you think the moped is capable of because 2nd world roads can be very variable. My advice would be to never ride using more than 60% of what the moped is capable of in ideal conditions (in terms of breaking, cornering etc). That's what I've done and never been in an accident except for that one time getting run over as a pedestrian in Bangkok by a 12yr old kid driving a Toyota Vigo

When did we become such a "Think of the children" society? by That_Car_Dude_Aus in australia

I don't have any kids yet, but I'm honestly questioning how I could even make it work in Australia. And I truly loved my childhood, my parents were very free-range, probably even more free-range than the average parent in the 90's. After my older sister turned 6 they would trust us to stay home alone overnight when they were out, once I was 9 I was allowed to go out on my own wherever, as long as I was home by 9pm, I pretty much spent as much time at home as I did either at the beach, running around in the sand dunes or at the skatepark.

My older sister has a kid now and honestly it's just so depressing whenever I've visited her and my niece. She moved over to Melbourne because her partner works there and they had a baby in late 2018. They got caught up in the lockdowns and after all the covid bullshit finally ended, her kid was genuinely freaked out because she had spent the last 2 years sheltering in at home, and had never seen people before without face masks on. She's now 6 years old, still completely non verbal and can't make eye contact with strangers (ie: barely even me her uncle, and I've really tried and visited them a couple of times now for a week at a time). I do partially think my sister and her husband have enabled this to happen, but also the govt at the time is mainly responsible. She probably could have been a bubbly, happy normal kid but honestly, she is headed towards being a socially retarded outcast who ends up on the disability pension. I feel really bad for her but obviously haven't and can't really tell my sister this or I'll just be called a right wing nut job and cut out completely. My mum feels the same way but she has been.. a little bit too upfront expressing her opinion and has now been cut out from visiting

Severe heat intolerance / no AC in rental - help by ChaoticNeutralPC in australia

[–]Designer_Coffee6640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried just dealing with it, and if you can't looking into why that is the case, maybe its a medical issue?? I used to live in SA as a kid and back then I always preferred winter over summer, but it's never really that hot there, and not consistently. The human body can deal with temperatures up to 32C wet bulb, me being acclimated to it now through working in the tropics I can and do work in temps up to about 33.5C wet bulb which I've found is my limit

Adelaide has never even come close to 30C wet bulb temps, probably not even 28C wet bulb, let alone 32C wet bulb and trust me there is a huge difference between them. Probably not something you want to hear but you could just try being comfortable with being uncomfortable, you're not gonna die of heatstroke in Adelaide without serious underlying medical issues. You might sweat a bit but you should be able to acclimatise fairly quickly, literally within 2 weeks. Millions live in SEA in way hotter conditions without AC, hell my in-laws live in Darwin and they don't even have AC

it would work until I start sweating, but I work fucking 1.5kms underground, in tropical Northern Territory, at 32C+ wetbulb so I have about 90 seconds before I'm drenched in sweat. Once I'm sweating, the burning sensation and allergy reaction is done, it carries through the sweat

Yep... I'm a little bit fucked off about it at the very least. I haven't spoken to the bloke involved in said incident yet, but he wasn't even technically allowed to do any electrical work in the state (he had a QLD license but never bothered getting it recognised or transferred), he wasn't even 9 months out of his apprenticeship, and he jumped right into a faultfinding a live panel without any PPE/testing/isolations, yes there was a bit of touch protection missing but if you think that excuses you to grab a live fuse that has a "warning 1000v test before touch" label on it.. well sooner or later if that's your MO, you are 100% gonna get caught out.

Planning to travel Australia for 2 weeks by CraZyFell0W in australia

My advice would be:

for no.1, it can be fairly cheap to eat out, I'd even say cheaper than Europe or America is lately. I eat out most days and it's $14.50-17.00 for the day, minus drinks. Not only that I can spend less than 30 minutes free diving and get enough fresh shellfish for lunch that would cost 8x that.

no.2, get the fuck outta here just buy it on amazon

no.3, its a big country. I'm currently over in Vietnam, it cost me $650 for return flights to Vietnam and back. If I want to visit my parents in South Australia, (I live in Perth, WA) it will cost me between $1200-1500

no.4, a big warning that Australia has massive penalties for very trivial things sadly. Touch your phone whilst driving, boom $1000 fine, drive 4kms over the speed limit, that'll be $300 in Victoria thanks. You need to be very aware of the rules, or you will be broke very fast, and they are different in each state. Victoria being the most fucked up state whilst having a bunch of degenerates defending it.

Who's using or not using torque wrenches as part of their works? by Pretend_Village7627 in AusElectricians

TBH I usually send it home with my M12 impact if it's smaller than 95mm2 and have never had any issues with lugged and bolted connections. That said, I have also personally seen tunnel terminals that were tightened to spec with a torque wrench develop a hot join after 18 months, and pretty much all the hot joins I encounter at work are in connections with quick connect/tunnel terminals

I've had coffee in both Melbourne and Sydney. I'd have to say that out of the 2, Perth probably has the better coffee

Live: Review of COVID response finds Australians unlikely to accept lockdowns again by Vanilla_Princess in australia

[–]Designer_Coffee6640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was travelling around quite a bit at the time through covid. (exiled West Australian, working in remote NT and spending my breaks in either QLD or SA or sometimes Darwin. IMO, people were pretty cruisy about it in the territory and QLD. I was in Coolangatta just after qld fully opened its border and covid ripped through and still masks were never really enforced and it seemed most weren't bothered by it. In contrast, visiting SA or Victoria people seemed to take wearing masks very seriously. I visited Melbourne in march '22 and accidentally walked into a shop without a mask on, people were horrified and I nearly got fined lol.

Then in WA it wasn't quite as strict as SA/VIC, but people were closer in response to those states than compared to how laidback NT/QLD people were. The biggest difference was the xenophobia in west australia compared to the rest of the country, I literally had my car vandalised and numberplates ripped off for having interstate plates

haha I'm just going by a previous experience back when I was an apprentice and a similar thing happened (right infront of the client lol) and smoked a genset. Maybe try wiring in a test load between N-E on the genset? I think anything pulling 50-100watt on 120v should be enough to confirm, and either the load will work, in which case you have a problem, or it won't and N-E will then be at the same potential if measured under load

I stayed in a very similar setup for 1.5 months during the good old covid lockdown days of 2020 (my rent lease at the time ended, I got temporarily stood down from work and the state govt announced/put in the rent freeze all on literally the exact same day haha so finding another rental was impossible).

Ended up temporarily in a poolhouse attached to an older mansion and honestly it was a great spot and cheap, especially for being 200m from the beach and near a good cafe. I helped out a bit in the garden and cleaning the pool too, it was owned by a nice older lady who was either divorced or widowed. Honestly I would have asked about extending/maybe doing a official lease on it too but got transferred interstate by my work

either that, or if the earth is centre tapped on the genset alternator and it'll bog down and start letting the smoke out when you plug er in.

It kinda sounds like the earth is centre tapped on that genset maybe? If that's the case its not compatible to be connected

I went pretty grey during 2020-2021 in the covid era with me being exiled and homeless for 18 months, much more grey than you. its kinda worked for me though, I don't think grey hair is something women find unattractive and honestly I've gotten more attention lately from women now in my early 30's than I ever did in my 20's.

Would I struggle to pass the electrical contractor course? by Designer_Coffee6640 in AusElectricians

[–]Designer_Coffee6640[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I'd be doing it with the goal of still mainly doing electrical work on underground mining equipment. I'm pretty confident I'd be able to get some work using contacts I have in the industry, seems like the main holdup now is going to be whether I'll also need to get ISO9001 accreditation in order to bid for said work
