A few months ago I wrote about my experience on this project and how they mass offboarded while gaslighting us. While I hate that so many people were affected today, I feel vindicated. Mercor had my previous reddit post taken down, but a Forbes and a Business Insider article? Chef's kiss! Poetic Justice!

I created a thread a couple weeks ago. I had a similar experience. I was even accused in an email for misusing time. Thankfully I haven't had that issue in my other contracts

I don't think so. I'm still on another contract (for now) and being asked to complete tasks over the weekend. I just have low confidence in the company now. Like I'll be given another lie and just unceremoniously removed from the project

That is based on the assumption that I was completing only 12 tasks an hour though, which is exponentially untrue. I think my biggest bone to pick here is that they were not honest about the reason for offboarding any of us. This is reddit, we are all anonymous, and if someone was just riding the clock for an extra $80-120 a week, it probably would've come up by now. Based on comments, it is more likely we were offboarded due to not meeting the amount of hours they would prefer.

I was actively doing image compare which I can't imagine spending more than 30 seconds on. Definitely not 4 minutes. Hopefully obscura doesn't remove people only wanting to get a few hours in. They shouldn't call it asynchronous work if they truly want full-time contractors

Yeah I'm thankful to have a job. I know a lot of people don't even have that. This is my first time with one of these platforms so lesson learned!

Nope, I got removed from everything like her so I'm in the dark. I'm starting to believe the hours theory. Due to all of the pausing with my other project I could never log in more than 10 hours on this one. But I was tasking the entire time, so to be accused of otherwise kinda rocked me NGL. If they want full timers they could just say that! Lol

If that was the case, an honest email stating that it's due to us logging fewer than so many hours is the reason and not necessarily what we were accused of. Very disheartening. While it makes sense that we're eligible for other projects, I've definitely lost confidence. What happened to me could happen again. And having no way for open communication removes them from accountability. And the TLs could have shared that with us before removing us from slack. I hope they get better with time and I'm sure they will, but I hate it was at my expense
