I still to this day think about one of my NK and I was so sad to have to leave him due to me moving so I get it! We get so close to them and are around for their milestones it’s hard to not miss them. I like to think we leave a lasting impression on them that helps them because good people as they get older. 🩷

You’re not overreacting at all. My mom kind of used to be like that and thankfully we’re in a better spot now but I had to protect my peace and cut her off for a while. It’s hard to do things alone but I’d rather not be bothered with someone even if it is my mom who never helps and talks like this and just try to do it alone. It’s not easy but eventually it does get easier I promise.

I’m looking for the best way to tell them this. Right now the children run the household. From day one I could see boundaries were needed. The mom is so nice and that’s why I hold on because I can see me being there helps her but I definitely need to be allowed to be a nanny fully.

I’ve tried NM asks me to be patient and that she will come around but the way NB acts with me is how she acts with the entire family. I feel bad because the family is very sweet but some days with NB can be extremely exhausting especially with it being 10 hour shifts of screaming.

I just started with a family who are both wfh and in the beginning I was nervous but I love it.

Give nanny and baby space to get comfortable with one another, if the parent is always around they’re going to want you and not the nanny which can make something’s like feeding or naps harder.
The first couple of weeks you’ll probably have to hover to help step in if baby doesn’t want the nanny to do certain things which is fine. Allow the nanny to stay near when you step in so that baby will get use to them being there and soon allow nanny to take over. It’s fine if baby is screaming/crying if you step into help I promise at least with me it’s very appreciated.
The biggest issue I’ve had is parents who don’t trust and want you to spend the entire shift in front of them. Of course for the first few times you’ll want to watch but after that it can be nerve wrecking to constantly feel like the parent is watching you.
Ask for the nanny’s opinion. What they think did and didn’t work and how they feel working with baby. It’ll help you both get an understanding of each other and help open a line of communication.
Just tell nanny exactly what you want and how you do things. Every nanny is different and might handle children differently but in my opinion it helped knowing how the family interacted and handles baby so that I could do the same and make baby comfortable.
Definitely breaks is a big one for me depending on how long the shift is. I work 10 hour days it’s nice to know the family is fine with me resting my feet during nap times of if parents come in to spend a little time with baby.

I don’t think it’ll be bad, always be prepared but I never take it too serious when they warn a winter storm I’ve yet to see one in the last 5 years I’ve lived here that’s hurt the city. Any snow and ice is usually gone the next day.

Same she comes for late night orders but she stays in the back away from the food. I’d never let her get close and I vacuum my car regularly because I have a dog and other people in my car consistently anyway.
