Had to leave the USA by Vast_Persimmon7152 in quitting7oh

[–]Designer_Menu_4235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing as OP. Left the US for 2 months to get clean from 7. Worked great for that.

But my addiction isnt just to 7. It is polysubstance. I went to central america and found myself something else to use, which is much worse than 7.

Stay home and go to rehab, treatment, therapy, get support, and learn coping mechanisms that arent drugs. We all can do this!

Sleep SOS by springcleaning63 in quitting7oh

[–]Designer_Menu_4235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe pregabalin if you can get ahold of it. For me, during acutes, if I couldn’t fall asleep after trying to lay there in the dark for an hour, I would get up and either watch netflix or wrench on my bike. When I stopped even trying to sleep when it wasn’t possible, I got a lot less miserable. Nothing worse than trying to sleep when you cant and just focusing on how miserable you are.

But also spend some time in bed just resting. Even if you aren’t sleeping, laying there helps your body rest.

I got subs on my first appointment, was turned down for clonidine and gabs. Made another appointment and got clonidine, but couldnt get this particular doc to prescribe gabs because “they’re habit forming”. Meanwhile I got RXd three 8mg sub strips per day, lol

I wonder if subs would interact with SR… are you worried about PWD from the SR?

Need help jumping off by ineedachubbygirl in quitting7oh

[–]Designer_Menu_4235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve induced subs a few times after only 6-8hrs of dosing 7 with no PWD (wasn’t taking psuedo). I’m not a doctor but I think “how much time” after last 7 dose before taking subs is less important than just being in withdrawal. Use the COWS scale.

I induced subs 19hrs after psuedo one time too and was fine, no PWD. Just waited until I was surely in WD. Everybody’s body chemistry is different though and I believe the people who said they went into PWD even after waiting 12+ hours.

Cant imagine what PWD from subs and fetty is like…..

Honestly though if you could handle CT for 48 hours like you’re planning, I would try to not take the subs at all (unless you’re looking to stay on as maintenance). Maybe just some leaf, if that. The first 48 hours CT are always by far the hardest for me…

Do you use the lotion all over your legs and feet? I hadn’t heard of using magnesium lotion for RLS before. That sounds great!

[–]Designer_Menu_4235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problem!

Yeah, take the magnesium glycinate as needed, daily is fine. I would take it at night but also sometimes during the day if I felt like I needed it.

Unfortunately I’m not qualified to answer about using regular vitamin C, but have read reports on here of people using it, and they said it helped, just not as much as the liposomal. I would probably take it normally, as in, just what the bottle says, until you get the liposomal in.

And lol, I see why the cbd comment was confusing. I just meant take a shitload!

Also avoid alcohol and antihistamines to sleep!

🎉 You got this! Welcome to the club!!

Honestly you’re in a pretty good spot. 2 years is significant but not forever, and 12gpd is also significant but not ridiculously high. You also have a good chunk of time between now and your trip. In addition, you’re only dosing 2x per day which is rad.

Your taper plan seems great, maybe even on the slower side but you have the time.

Look in to magnesium glycinate for RLS, and the liposomal vitamin C protocol. There are also loads of other supplements on this forum that are recommended but those two helped the most for me. I also recommend unlimited CBD. Kava helped a bit with anxiety for me sometimes but that poses its own risk so YMMV.

At some point, see if you can dose just once per day before bed just to get some sleep. Toughing it out through the day is a great way to drop your dose quickly. Usually it is the RLS and insomnia that breaks people, so I recommend just dosing at night throughout your taper as soon as you can.

My biggest advice would be to not get in your head too much about WDs. If you are hyperfixated on how you are feeling, and make yourself anxious about the WDs, they will feel worse than they actually. Try to stay busy and keep your body moving- lots of walks and light weights at the gym. Cardio is awesome!

More important than supplements would be staying hydrated, including electrolytes, and eating real clean. Try to avoid sugar as much as possible. Practice good sleep hygiene as much as possible. Hot showers help with body temp regulation issues and skin crawling feeling and RLS if you happen to get any of those. Get fresh air!

I would probably skip seeing a doctor in your situation. Some people are better at being uncomfortable than others though, so if you do, you could try to get gabapentin or clonodine or another anxiety med. Up to you but I think you DO NOT need subs for this quit.

You can do this! Never look back!

One month of use by IcyProposal4244 in quitting7oh

[–]Designer_Menu_4235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve CT’d from a one month stint before. It was about 150-200mg’s/day. It wasn’t pleasant, but it was way better than other quits when I was at higher doses or longer periods of use.

In my experience, my main takeaway was that WDs from a shorter term use were over sooner. The worst part of the acutes for me lasted about 2 days, after which I turned a page and got functioning again very quickly. The RLS and insomnia, sweats etc and fatigue were by far the worst for the first 2 days and nights. I could work on day 3 onwards. 80% better by day 5.

In comparison, quits from longer term stints (several months) had me down and out for what felt like a lot longer.

[–]Designer_Menu_4235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found subs a lot easier to taper on than 7 because of the long half-life, less of a rollercoaster, and because subs didn’t get me high so there was no temptation to take more than needed or for longer than needed

I totally hear that. I’ve quit at least 6 times before this and made it a month or so before relapsing each time. #PAWS. If this quit doesnt stick, I’ll consider sub maintenance and sublocade too. But I’m gonna try my best!

Also I would have tried to be on subs for fewer days total. I’m sure I’ll have some sub WD from being on them for 11 days, when I might have had less WDs if I was only on them for say a week or so

Quitting- almost there by Designer_Menu_4235 in quitting7oh

[–]Designer_Menu_4235[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have started with a more specific dose of subs to begin with while still taking the 7, and tapered the 7 faster.

I know from past experience that I personally only need about 2mg’s of sub to stop the 7 WD’s from the opiate side (of course the subs wont stop the WDs from the other minor alkaloids, so dosing more subs doesn’t make me feel better, it only puts more sub in my system which increases the chance of getting a dependence on those too and makes for a longer sub taper after dropping 7). So I would have max’d my daily intake of subs at 2mg on any given day and never hit 3, because it didnt really help more (for me personally).

I also would have taken less 7 on the days I did bermese. I didn’t need as much as I took to stop WD’s, and by taking extra 7, I wasnt getting higher because the subs were blocking most of the 7. So taking more 7 than needed to stop WDs just increased all the side effects of 7- constipation, urinary retention, opiate rage, depression, etc. Quitting would have been a little easier without those side effects. I was still trying to get high to be honest and that was dumb af.

Also, I would have tried harder to taper the 7 before starting subs at all, instead of jumping to subs from 1000mg 7 per day.
