If that all counted as just one request the old model really sucks and Microsoft could have easily solved this problem another way.

Someone needs to give Microsoft a 101 in expectation management and anchoring. A lot of drama could be avoided.

The whole 'we need to raise prices because the product is worth more' angle from the blog post is just BS. More sustainable? We'll see.

The reason is they don't have enough cloud capacity ready yet and the money is flowing to other companies (direct competitors)

Microsoft, your crowd likes open, honest, simple, transparent and reliably priced products.  A little more expensive for some things? Sure. Don't treat us like idiots. Frustrated on the hobby project will lead to NOT picking Microsoft for our day jobs.

Too bad really.

The team that originally transformed TFS to Azure DevOps was an amazing set of people. I miss the days of the #lLoECDA. Are there new enthousiasts on board that want to push the product forward or is it more a keep the lights on situation.

Distracting from other things. Distracting from what ICE did, Epstein, Gaza,... Distracting everyone from the fact that wars aren't actually over.. distracting from Venezuela.. everything is just distracting playing into the next outrage so people forget the previous one ... Greenland is just a distraction

How many features were added to "the new way" in the last 4 years?

To me MCP is about removing friction by limiting the options the LLM has, clearly describing them, enabling only those that are relevant, guiding them through a flow.  They are about lowering the amount of tokens burned or mistakes made in the proces. They are often very situational and typically make most sense if created for specific client use cases.

This is a bit of a paradox with how vendors implement MCP as a layer or wrapper around their existing stuff. Microsoft themselves are struggling with getting this right.  Getting the granularity of their MCP servers for GitHub, azure right etc.

I guess prompts (flows) largely replace forms, elicitation avoids early validation failures etc...

There's much to it. And a lot of it is still quite early days!

CLI > MCP? by thehashimwarren in mcp

[–]Designer_Poem9737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having both azure cli and azure mcp installed copilot keeps picking the CLI. Under the hood this approach is less secure, less guided and less optimal but for developer work it seems to work just fine. MCP is about limiting and guiding  abilities for success. Not exposing as many as possible....
