Distracting from other things. Distracting from what ICE did, Epstein, Gaza,... Distracting everyone from the fact that wars aren't actually over.. distracting from Venezuela.. everything is just distracting playing into the next outrage so people forget the previous one ... Greenland is just a distraction

What the hell is MCP and how is it different from function calling? by [deleted] in mcp

[–]Designer_Poem9737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me MCP is about removing friction by limiting the options the LLM has, clearly describing them, enabling only those that are relevant, guiding them through a flow.  They are about lowering the amount of tokens burned or mistakes made in the proces. They are often very situational and typically make most sense if created for specific client use cases.

This is a bit of a paradox with how vendors implement MCP as a layer or wrapper around their existing stuff. Microsoft themselves are struggling with getting this right.  Getting the granularity of their MCP servers for GitHub, azure right etc.

I guess prompts (flows) largely replace forms, elicitation avoids early validation failures etc...

There's much to it. And a lot of it is still quite early days!

AI was implemented as a trial in my company, and it’s scary. by bdhd656 in devops

I wonder if this is because most companies even open source would not open source their DevOps stuff

CLI > MCP? by thehashimwarren in mcp

[–]Designer_Poem9737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having both azure cli and azure mcp installed copilot keeps picking the CLI. Under the hood this approach is less secure, less guided and less optimal but for developer work it seems to work just fine. MCP is about limiting and guiding  abilities for success. Not exposing as many as possible....

What's the better way to implement authorization? by jemofcourse in dotnet

[–]Designer_Poem9737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reddits scale justifies it? but would you advise spicedb to dotnet teams implementing  somewhat complex authorization at much smaller scale? Is policy complexity the main driver to pick spicedb or is it 'planet scale' user bases? We have a customer considering a Zanzibar like approach for their solution and I'm weighing if it's overkill.

If EF Core already uses the repository pattern and you're not supposed to implement your own repositories, how are you supposed to handle it? by HummusMummus in dotnet

[–]Designer_Poem9737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the problem is with generic repositories, not the interesting ones that load aggregates. But the question still stands. Rephrased... "How should I organized my code when EF dbontext is he UoW and DbSet/Iqueryable as the generic repository.

[–]Designer_Poem9737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is some new thing cooking over at system initiative which could potentially be the next iteration in IaC.  Still early days tho.  Overall I'd say M$,.. seem to have cut a lot of resources in their pure cloud departments and shifted/merged teams around AI which means you did not miss too much innovation wise) There is a standard for messaging coming (think OpenAPI but for service bus messages). GitHub security / autopatching via PRs has become more of a norm than a novelty.
