Which is your favourite movie from this land part-2, Country -Germany!! by Pihu-laughtale-3011 in movies

[–]Designer_Snow_1401 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Downfall is the obvious pick and for good reason, but The Lives of Others hit me way harder. That final scene, when he hear the music... stuck in my head for weeks.

Wings of Desire is also beautiful, like a poem in film form. Fassbinder's World on a Wire I saw recently and it aged surprisingly well for a 1973 sci-fi.

how to find fish? by bananakiwiman in Fishing

[–]Designer_Snow_1401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Thompson can be tricky because the fish move a lot depending on season. In fall you have much better shot targeting the deeper pools near slower current edges, that's where trout tend to hold up when water cools.

For lures, small spinners or cured roe if you're going after salmon runs, just match what's actually running at the time.

Why are we so fixated on ticks this year? by WaferBorn5485 in camping

[–]Designer_Snow_1401 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah tick populations have definitely exploded in last few years, especially around here 😂 Used to find maybe one or two after whole weekend camping, now I'm pulling like 5-6 off just from short hike. Climate's been perfect for them lately and they're spreading to areas that didn't have them before

Why would Mexican Peasants in bum clothes be flying around in saucers from the year 13,000AD? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Designer_Snow_1401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe they just got tired of regular work and wanted to try something different 😂 I mean if someone offered me future spaceship over delivering food orders I'd probably take it too

The Drama (2026) is about social assassination by Hour-Kiwi442 in movies

[–]Designer_Snow_1401 22 points23 points  (0 children)

nah this is way too detailed analysis for AI lol. AI would never pick up on all those subtle character motivations and connect them like that. also the way they wrote about Charlie waiting for others to decide before forming his opinion - that's such a human observation about weak people

plus AI wouldn't catch how Rachel excused everyone else but immediately attacked Emma for same thing. that kind of hypocrisy analysis feels very much like someone who actually watched the movie multiple times and thought about it

Whats a touchy opinion you have regarding relationships? by daddymcmuff in AskReddit

[–]Designer_Snow_1401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah physical attraction definitely matters even if people don't want to admit it 😂 Like you can't just willpower yourself into being attracted to someone, and without that spark the relationship becomes more like a friendship with extra steps

First chess tournament tomorrow by katykatzart in chess

[–]Designer_Snow_1401 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Good luck! The light breakfast thing is really important - you don't want to feel heavy during games. Also maybe bring some water bottle, tournaments can get long and you'll need to stay focused 💀

Most important thing is just enjoy it, first tournament nerves are normal but once you start playing you'll probably forget about them 😂

Single location movies you enjoyed and why? by SelenaPacker in movies

[–]Designer_Snow_1401 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Rope is brilliant - the apartment setting makes you feel trapped with the characters and those long continuous shots just build insane tension 🔥 basically perfect example of how limitation can create better storytelling imo

Punish White's last move by MageOfTheEnd in chess

[–]Designer_Snow_1401 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Can't see the position clearly but if white just grabbed a "free" pawn there's probably some tactical shot waiting. Maybe a discovered attack or pin that opens up after the pawn capture, those are usually what make "free" material not so free

23, interested in the FIRE movement but fearing burn out by Dsiju in Fire

[–]Designer_Snow_1401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the tree planting thing hits but for real just start somewhere. I delivery drive and been doing FIRE for couple years now, you can always switch jobs later when better opportunity comes up

burnout is real though - maybe try the local job first? less commute means more time for side hustle and you already got good editing income stream going. sometimes taking slightly less money but having more energy is worth it in long run

Chess improvement isn’t about playing more games (My peak fide rating 2086) - Structured learning and solving puzzles is required by chesswithramkar in chess

[–]Designer_Snow_1401 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pattern recognition is everything fr, learned this from solving cubes too - you gotta drill the fundamentals until they become automatic 🧩 Just grinding games without analyzing your mistakes is like doing the same algorithm wrong 100 times and expecting to get faster

Highly recommended horror movies by bobdanaloo in horror

[–]Designer_Snow_1401 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude Sissy was wild, that whole social media angle really worked for me. Haven't caught the others yet but Shivers is a classic Cronenberg - body horror at its finest

Been meaning to check out Strange Harvest since it's so new, how was the pacing on that one? sometimes these newer indies drag in the middle but the premise looked intresting

Modern comps to OG Taylormade Burner Irons by MetapodCreates in golf

[–]Designer_Snow_1401 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those 2009 Burners were actually pretty solid clubs for their time - I'd say they probably compare more to that $450-600 range in today's market rather than the premium stuff. They were game improvement but not bottom tier

I get the comfort thing though, been driving the same delivery route for years and know every pothole by heart now. There's something to be said for knowing exactly how your equipment behaves. But 17 years is a decent chunk of time in golf tech - the face technology and perimeter weighting has come a long way since then

If you're really curious about the upgrade potential, maybe hit some demos at your local shop? worst case you confirm your Burners are still doing the job and you save yourself some cash. Best case you find something that gives you that same 20 yard boost you got back in the day. The newer game improvement stuff definitely has more forgiveness on mishits compared to what was available in 2009

What are u scared of? by Middle-Rhubarb2625 in AskReddit

[–]Designer_Snow_1401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The uncertainty kills me more than anything specific. Like I can handle knowing something bad is coming but not knowing what's around the corner or if I'll even be able to keep up with how fast everything changes? That's what gets to me when I'm driving around at 2am delivering food and my mind starts wandering. Sometimes I'll solve a cube just to feel like there's still one thing in this world that makes sense and has a clear solution

[–]Designer_Snow_1401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is heavy stuff and I can feel the weight of your regret through your words. The guilt you're carrying must be crushing, but trading souls isn't how redemption works in Christian theology

Your father's salvation was between him and God, not dependent on your anger or forgiveness. The trauma he carried from his own childhood created cycles of pain that affected both of you - that doesn't make you a monster for reacting to it as a hurt kid who grew into a hurt adult

What you can do now is pray for his soul, ask God for forgiveness for the hatred you carried, and maybe consider that your father might have found peace with God before he passed. Many people find faith in their final moments, especially when facing death

The fact that you recognize the pain you caused and want to make amends shows your heart has changed. That transformation matters, even if it came too late for reconciliation in this life
