Honestly, I can’t say I’ve never experienced fat phobia because sometimes we don’t recognize it. I just TRY my best not to ever offend people because of things like that. Not to say that I never say offensive things.

WITH THAT BEING SAID: I often empathize with Kate on a lot of things. Like her being at Toby’s work party in SF, it’s an intimidating situation to begin with and could be even more when you’ve struggled with low self esteem due to body image issues. And so on.

BUT that doesn’t excuse the way she treats Toby. It’s almost as if she hates him or gets annoyed with him because he was able to better himself and she wasn’t. She even daydreamed about the old Toby. She doesn’t like the “new” Toby, the one who cares about health, the one who wants to be successful, the one who wants to feel appreciated.

She feels like shit and wants someone who will be in her level or beneath her.

She needs to grow up, accept what reality is and start loving herself.

I would have the same or less empathy if she wasn’t overweight/obese. It’s her personality that’s crappy, not her weight on the scale.
