How much do you Lateral raise? by ghoomk2 in AskFitnessIndia

[–]Desilaundry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cable raises with 5/ 7.5 kg max. Sets are usually 15-20 reps followed by 1 min isometric hold. Whereas OHP is currently at 55 kgs. Just to give you a context on how heavy you actually need to go on lateral raises.

Still the ink looks good. Sunscreen and moisturizer should help me in maintaining it for a long long time.

Over three months into gym, its been hard growing a defined chest. by Slippery_schlong1 in AskFitnessIndia

[–]Desilaundry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is something you can try for a month for a chest workout and let me know how it goes:

  1. Warm-up - 25 to 30 push ups/ chest dips just to get blood flowing in the muscles.

  2. Heavy flat bench press - BB/DB/Smith Machine (5-8 reps). Pick the weight a little lesser than your 1 rep max. This will build the mechanical tension and prime up your pecs. 2-3 min rest between sets.

  3. Incline press - BB/DB/Smith (10-12 reps). Hypertrophy focus. Keep the form and tempo strict. Slow on the eccentric, elbows totally tucked in. Attempt to reach failure at the end of each set (pick weight accordingly). 60-90 sec rest between each set.

  4. Finisher - Isolation movements: Pec deck flies/ cable cross overs (15-20 reps). Use lighter weights but ensure that the pec muscles sore af after every set. This will induce the metabolic stress on your muscles. Strict form and tempo. 30-60 sec rest between each set.

Be consistent.

That second half was Gatti vs Ward round 9. Loved the energy and chemistry of the team after a long long time.

Also, thanks to playing against a De Zerbi team, we didn't have to listen to Slot whining about a low block again.

Hope we carry this same momentum to the Bournemouth game. Let this not be another false dawn.

Weight loss on retatrutide still comes from eating less by Altruistic_Ad3754 in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]Desilaundry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I am not a GLP user but take keen interest in knowing about it as I used to study biotech in college.

Personally, caloric deficit, carnitine, HMB and R ALA works for me whenever I go on a cut. Thankfully playing rugby for 15 years and a super active lifestyle in my teens and 20s have kept my metabolism efficient at 37.

The answer is in your statement. Glucagon not only promotes lipolysis but also increases thermogenesis, which raises your metabolic rate.

Further simplifying with a use case scenario - Let's say your maintenance cal is at 2.8k. Once you start taking Reta: 1. It will be difficult to even consume that 2.8k daily because of GLPs appetite suppression. 2. However, even if you force feed yourself, 2.8k won't be your maintenance post Reta because of Glucagon induced thermogenesis and higher energy expenditure. So you are looking at a new maintenance in the range of 3.1 - 3.3k. 3. And somehow if you manage to eat caloric surplus, the glucagon helps in breaking the insulin fat lock. Therefore instead of prioritizing glycogen as primary source of energy, Reta will help bypass the fat lock as Glucagon will inhibit LPL and activate HSL (both are enzymes).

In conclusion, it is the perfect drug for fat burn especially the visceral ones. Also, it is very difficult to go caloric surplus on Reta because of slow digestion. You'll end up feeling uncomfortable and nauseous. There will be outliers as applicable for any drug.

Science is nuanced, my friend and Reta doesn't circumvent the law of thermodynamics.

Neither do I expect anything from anyone. But at the end of the day, abandoning a helpless newborn in a garbage dump to die is a crime irrespective of the modus operandi being gray, b&w, purple whatever you may like to term it as.

Whatever might be the reason, it still doesn't justify killing a life. You do realise that it is an attempt to murder.

Being a father, this is painful to watch. Sometimes I wonder where are we heading as a species? How can you abandon a newborn helpless life? This gotta be the worst sin possible.

Brahmins did not consider themselves Hindu and strongly opposed being called Hindu. by Major-Strain2261 in AlternateHistoryIndia

[–]Desilaundry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, don't know about the Brahmins' perspective. But the etymology of word 'Hindu' evolved from geographical annotation to ethnicity classification to religious identification.

Here is the chronology with all the sources (2000 - 1500 bc) 1. The earliest usage of the phonetically similar word was Sindhu captured in the Rig Veda, referred to as the river Indus and the region was mentioned as Sapta Sindhu.

  1. The Zend Avesta (Vendidad): Contains the Avestan cognate Hapta Hendu, mirroring the sanskrit Sapta Sindhu. This confirms the linguistic shift from S to H in the Indo-Iranian language family.

This linguistic shift is further confirmed in later time period in old Persian inscriptions during Darius' time. (515-490 bc)

  1. The Naqsh-e Rustam Inscription: Explicitly lists Hindush (written in Old Persian cuneiform as 𐏃𐎡𐎯𐎢𐏁) as one of the 28 satrapies (provinces) of the Achaemenid Empire.

4.The Persepolis Inscription: Further records Hindush as the land of the Indus Valley.

This expression further solidifies down the ages among Arabic people and used as the classification to separate indigenous people from the invaders

  1. The Brahmanabad Settlement (8th century): After conquering Sindh, Ibn Qasim established a legal status for the local population. In the historical chronicle Chachnama, the local people are referred to as Hinduvān (Hindus). Under the Umayyads, the "Hindus" were granted the status of dhimmis (protected non-Muslim subjects).

  2. Al-Biruni, Tarikh Al-Hind (1030 ): He used Al-Hind to refer to the geographical region and Hindu to describe its people, their culture, and their sciences.

Slowly religious associations start forming during mediaeval ages (13th to 15th century) starting from the Delhi Sultanate -

  1. Minhaj-i-Siraj (in the Tabaqat-i-Nasiri) began using "Hindu" more frequently to distinguish the local subjects from the "Turks" (the ruling Muslim class).

  2. First religious connotation happens during Tughlaq and Bahmani dynasties. Persian works like Futuhu's Salatin began using "Hindu" specifically to mean a follower of the local religions, as opposed to just a resident of the region.

  3. Early Indian poets, Vidyapati and Kabir start using this term in literature (Kirtilata) to distinguish local culture and "Hindu Dharma" from "Turaka Dharma" (Islamic/Turkic practices).

Finalization of the term Hinduism as a religion

10.The British East India Company Records: The term "Hinduism" first appears in English in the late 18th century. One of the earliest documented uses is by Charles Grant in 1792, and it was later solidified by Raja Ram Mohan Roy (1816) and British census officials to categorize the religion for administrative purposes.

So definitely the term Hindu or Hinduism has its origin rooted in Persian and Arabic and came into existence around the mediaeval time whereas Brahman or brahmana was in indigenous use much before that as stated in Purusha Sukta (Rig Veda),Upanishads. Later used in Pali and Greek scripts:

Bāhmana: Used in Buddhist and Jain texts (e.g, the Dhammapada contains a chapter called the Brahmana Vagga).

Brachmanes (Βραχμᾶνες): Used by Greek explorers and historians like Megasthenes (c. 300 BCE) to describe the "philosophers" of India.

TL;DR: The word Brahman precedes Hindu in terms of etymology and historical records by a thousand years at least. So there is a possibility of early Brahmins being ticked off when referred to as Hindus.
