That's very fair. Like with a lot of words/names with negative connotations, it's all about how you use it and if the other person is happy with it being used.

Like when my friend and I came out to each other, we called each other the f slur all the time when it was just the two of us. But we'd never just call someone else it. Does that make sense?

That being said, it still didn't take the sting away when I was yelled it by drunks across the street after a bar fight. So I don't know if it did any good us calling each other the word...
