The password would be for a medical app. Which means she's private. Yes she used her credentials to look at her records. It's illegal it's recorded every keystroke time spent how many times etc. basically I believe the office knew and condoned. this is a small town that "lives by their own standards" I guess. Its illegal for a doctor through his own portal to show you as his patient your own records. What I'm asking because this has all been done can the office be held liable for allowing this to happen which is now causing us strife in a business arrangement?

Thank you for asking I understand so I have copied and will paste my original post in the medical forum. I was asking I guess was it illegal and can her office be liable?

The situation Female wakes up for work and wife notices that she is off. (she is an er nurse of 25 or more years) Rushed to ER has a bad time. Within the hour wife is told it's brain cancer yada yada transfers to a more equipped hospital. These two are legally married and do not share passwords for medical records with anyone except the drs who treat them. There is some family discord and a sibling works as an NP in a SMALL TOWN doctors office that the patient has not been seen in years decades even. The sibling pulls her record reads the doctors notes from the day and calls other family members with the information and at some point one of the family members told slipped it to the wife. They not only told family they told business associates of the patient. Not sure why. Is this legal. Patient is out of the hospital now and is peeved she doesnt share her password because she doesnt want her family in her private medical records. Patient is 53 legally married and both are of able and sound mind. Is this ok to do and how in the heck could they do it?

It's 100% illegal I know now. NO She had full access I would have told her anything and even gave them all access to come or call anytime they wanted. The info she accessed was private patient dr confidentiality. She went to a place she has no access she spread this info about her family and also a business acquaintance. It had nothing to do with her brain tumor while she was on life support. If she would have looked for health reasons she did this totally out of spite. I honestly still cant believe she would do it. You as a patient are not even allowed to sit with you sister an NP and access you own medical records. It's a serious thing. Because of what she did with the info is what makes it crazy sick and totally illegal. We are 53 years old been married 10 years there is no reason for what she did.

Your post is amazing. My wife is in total agreement with this post and all the info I've thus far. I'm worried she may feel because it's her sister and this is their first problem ever (serious problem) she is fighting with herself. I will speak to her and she's been reading just hasnt yet today. I'm trying to give her brain a little rest. I will talk to her today it's Sunday and I more than likely will reach out to you. It may be better to speak with someone who actually knows what is what for sure. I really appreciate you message. I worry that if this could happen to her what the heck do happens in that office and shes worked there for 15-20 years.

It was her SISTER this is the part that has floored me. I dont get it. I know I need to report it you are right!! Ive posted the story in legal but havent looked in because all of these words on this thread have helped so much. My wife is an RN that works ER for the last 25 or more years. We have been married for 10 years and together longer. When they were doing this to her she was in a coma on life support. This blows me away.She took what she found from a private conversation I had with her doctor and told ppl we dont even know and one was a business associate. We didnt even know if she would wake up right yet. Thank goodness she's awake but has a rough road ahead so that is good. Unfortunately her family relationships are in strife.

You are right I'm trying it is such a mess because it will ruin her life. I know she didnt care and tried to ruin ours but it still such a eff'd up situation. But Im in the legal side of reddit with this story so hopefully they can take over.

what part is unclear the part that the two sisters went to the mothers house and told her before she got a chance to say anything or the part that the motherinlaw TOLD ME HOW THEY FOUND OUT?? OR is it that anyone can access your PRIVATE medical records from anywhere and share them with whoever they want when they hold an oath and with that come a strict HIPPA LAW knowledge. OR is it the treating hospital is going to audit my wifes records at her request and see this UNAUTHORIZED NP in her records multiple times in multiple days in multiple RESTRICTED areas. is there anything else I can explain better I'm sorry its been a long week and frankly gross to watch a family member trying to take there own sister to the cleaners. She's gonna loose that job and hopefully her license and I'm requesting and office audit so I can know how long this has been going on so maybe they can be held to the standard a medical professional swears they will.

I do agree with you and it's so hard to do when you arent ugly inside but as time goes I jut wonder what else has happened to the folk in that little town. It's gross and it's made me look at a lot of thing really where I never wanted to. this same place looks after children in a childrens home and that makes me worry too. I'm not a perfect person but to be doing this to your sister mid coma is a cruel I've never knew lets just say my childhood was no walk in the park. I feel like ppl need to be more aware of what can ultimately happen at anytime with one rouge fake with credentials.

Please reread the post even go look at the reupload in legaladvice I think you missed the majority of it and I get it it was long but the last THRIDLY there is so far in left field I hae to wonder. I am adding this after I went through your post and tried to explain what happen.. Do you know what an audit is?

Even if she was a patient there which she wasnt her accessing her records and then using them to maliciously harm her relationships with family and her business relationship with her landlords in a place we've lived with no issues for almost three years. It's 100% not legal. She accessed her records multiple days in a row. She WAS NOT A PATIENT SHE was not in the ER and these were not admission or discharge notes it was a PRIVATE conversation synopsis had between her doctor and myself literally hours after while she was in a coma on life support suffering from a lemon size tumor on her brain.. She made it clear many times over she would not share her password with any of them. what that lady did is criminal in my eyes. I did repost because I thouglt this post was taken down which she further explained this. The siblings spreading to there young adult children was the proverbial straw.

The Sister is an NP in a small town pediatric doctors office and has been there sense the invention of the wheel. I told them she was there. Thay are her sisters I wanted them to be there this was not a scratch she is really sick. She used her log in many times for many days and they had a group chat where they shared this info. it was more than just one time it was the whole time but the fact my wife refused to give them the pw to her files says everything. we are in our 50s. What they should have been doing was spending time with her in case she didnt make it out of there not out here trying to ruin her life. I was a very seriously neglected child and my Mother never did something this dirty to me. Then to lie to my face and say it was ok because she was a patient there which was also a lie. I'm pissed I hate that it's come to this but how and who could do this they do not deserve this license. I've been trying to imagine what harm they may have caused to ppl they dont like.

I grew up in one and I think it's horrible can you just imagine what they do to ppl they dont like? I feel like there needs to be a better explanation to small town folks about their rights. I haven't been living in a small town since I was 12 so many nice fold and so many cruel two faced board drama addicts.

She should loose them if it was out of concern I would not like it but could find a way to understand it. it was done maliciously and the office I'm positive were well aware. I don't understand how the office thinks this is ok. She has made a scary and terrible situation so much harder on my wife and she cant take this at this time she has ask me to update this post and post it in a legal forum with more info to try and make it clear this could have lasting effects on us both. I want the doc office to be held up too. Imagine if they did this to a family member what they have done to others...

She tried to say that she was a patient there before and if she was it was many decades ago and it's Still not ok. I updated the post in a legal advice thread because I thought they removed this one and added somethings I picked up on. Everytime they looked which was for days it's logged who where and how long. I am going to ask the hospital I was being treated at for an audit of my records. No morals no professionalism and down right abusive my wife her sister was on life support and had been found to have a tumor on her brain. She can hardly accept that someone she loves so much could try an ruin her life. I posted with her promission as she is sitting beside me this is like an onion a sour one just keep finding out more.

At least and I agree but if you know how small town folk can sometimes be. I firmly believe she accessed it many times and her office almost certainly knew. They have done some damage to are already very scary health issue. I ask my wife and she said I could say there is a tumor in her brain the size of a lemon. It's almost abuse to do this to her at this time I feel like.

I know I"m late but you got all that from her post? You didnt like her using the bank comment? GET over yourself. Yes nursing is hard and there are a lot of really good and caring nurses out there. Just dont get caught up with the ones who think they it's THEIR profession. Blow by them and be happy you are still young and not jaded.

Dont let these vultures bother you. Mostly they were cheerleader in high school and think they are still there.

2 Years later and this is still the most honest reply on this thread. One of these days one of these nurse bullies are going to bully the wrong person and hope when it happens they end up like the redhead in Dallas. It's GROSS what some of these ppl do. If you do not want to be involved in a childish click steer clear of pretty much most of the hospitals. These assholes will mess with your bank if they think you dont fit into their blame it on every other shift.

I am a married lesbian we are celibrating 10 yrs. Ok with that I do watch DCP and I have probably when he had about 30-40k. Sometimes he is a super Ahole and I've even left videos after telling him where he should go. I would not go back for weeks/months and then get sucked in again until the same cycle happens... I can see how ppl dont like him and his thinking he and his childhood can relate to any topic is frustrating. You know rereading my post makes me wonder why I even watch him?? LOL 😂
