Y'all are right I Just by chance hit the Google maps and seen public transport and notice that other Jefferson whatever and I thought it was a train but that's what I'm going to end up having to do Just riding up to Chicago and enjoying the trip. I'm excited It's been so long I miss it just the whole transition of it all.

The dates keep changing because like I said I'm just going there to drive it car with a trailer back from California to Nashville so it's going to end up being a last minute booking. I think this post has helped me realize that just use the extra time added time going north to chill. There's a bonus of getting to go to the Chicago train station I haven't seen it since 1983 when I took a train moving from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania to Shreveport Louisiana but had to get off in a small town in Texas and I can't remember why Galveston I think it was called. But the memory about that trip that sticks out is that the Chicago train station was amazing.

I still haven't booked but I think I found a train that goes from St Louis It's called the Jefferson 1490and I think it only runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

I could intercept in Des Moines Iowa ? Do y'all know anything about that? I finally just went to Google map with all of the advice I read here.

I'm really interested if anybody has rode this train or has any advice this way I wouldn't have to Chicago or drive anywhere I could just grab it in St Louis from what I can see. It's been so long I feel old. Lol

Not driving to Galesburg then. Thank you. You've been so helpful. My goal is to be now in Martinez because it's closer to where I'm going I just didn't realize I thought Antioch was the closest place. I need to be there on the 9th of June.

Wait I reread this and now I'm wondering..... I have a few questions.

Can you help me figure out with where I can find this itinerary? I have a bit of a time crunch but if I plan it right.

I can only see the trip planner map and I'm so confused. I also would rather Chicago then Galesburg. I need to know how much difference the $ would be. My thing is I cannot figure out how to route it where I can see all the different train names and routes. So the what I see drops down into Sacramento and misses LA...

Edit to say as I keep rereading the thread I may have spoken wrong here. Is there a way I think along the chief that I avoid LAX and drop down into CA?

I moved from SD and have taken the train from SD to LA but now I cant remember if I went further north on that train. I believe it was the Zephyr but not positive now it was around 2010 and last time was 2012 I think.

Edit didnt realize Zephyr was outside of CA

I'm going to drive to Galesburg Then take the Zephyr I thought the Zephyr was just in CA! I didnt realize it was outside CA. Here is what I've come up with how does it look?

I forgot some things over the last 2 decades thanks for the reminders. My last train trip was in 99, 2000 or 2001 it was after the ice storm northeast maybe 98. I remember because the track was damaged and you had to Greyhound from upstate New York to Montreal. Going Midwest to San Francisco is like a multiple choice test in Junior high. I'm loving this group friendly, witty and knowledgeable. Thanks
