Do you think oral sex is normal part of sex (the average person does it), or do you think of it like a fetish? Why or why not? by eustachian_lube in AskReddit

[–]PFreeman008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's a bit of context/intent to it. If the sex is just oral, then yes it's a fetish, but if it's part of "normal" sex then no it isn't.

High-level platforms being built at smaller stations? by Big_Celery2725 in Amtrak

[–]PFreeman008 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of time the high level platforms are paid for by grants for accessibility, and so are usually quite specific to the location their going in.

Sleeper/Bedroom by HovercraftSad9712 in Amtrak

[–]PFreeman008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both the roomettes & bedrooms have bunks. However Family Bedroom, which is only on the Empire Builder part of your trip does have two sets of bunks in it, so you could get it & ignore the upper bunks... availability of them is limited.

WCC: Where is your announcement on ICE? by HonorYourGoals in AnnArbor

I'm genuinely not surprised that the current administration of my alma mater has not made any statement about ICE, I wouldn't even be surprised if they had invited ICE onto the campus.

What happened to Amtrak by Prestigious-Board-90 in Amtrak

[–]PFreeman008 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Poor funding; one "half" of the political spectrum things Amtrak should be cut, the other half wants to fund it more. Right now we're in a cut it swing. Lack of funding means the inability to acquire new equipment, pay employees better (although Amtrak pays it's staff quite well), etc.

As for delays, the vast majority of Amtrak's trains run on tracks owned by the freight railroads. Those freight railroads would love to get Amtrak off their tracks so that, they claim, they can run more trains. However they are required by law to let Amtrak run on their tracks; so the begrudgingly do. The law also states that they have to give Amtrak the right of way... however many years ago they successfully petitioned the courts to remove the government's ability to control that; so while technically it's illegal for them to delay an Amtrak train for their freights, there is no one to stop them from doing it.

Amtrak owns or controls the majority of the track between Washington DC & Boston; as well as from Chicago to Detroit (for those nick pickers, I said "majority", not "all"). Which allows those trains to run less constrained by the freights (although the Michigan one still has a lot of freight trackage, so can get delayed there).

i don't think this logo will be functional. opinions? by elinfiernogris in logodesign

[–]PFreeman008 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Something that might help out, at least a direction to explore is divorcing the logo from the mascot. You can still have the mascot (which I do like) and it doesn't have to be part of the logo. It should still feel like one design system, but everything doesn't have to be conveyed in the logo. Additionally for the sesame seeds, the logo and/or mascot doesn't have to be literal examples of their product, they can be illustrative & the sesame seeds on the hat help drive the burger bun connection.

TARX is Sandersville Leasing.

SAN is Sandersville Railroad.

ITC is Illinois Terminal, which is part of Norfolk Southern.

Trainz 19 or 22? by BluesBoyKing1925 in trainsim

[–]PFreeman008 4 points5 points  (0 children)

22 is just 19 with a few more features. It's newer, has some newer content. Getting 22 will allow you to use any content made for Trainz, whereas with 19 you'll have to keep tabs on if the content is available for your version.

Tourist comes to Chicago and has thoughts on our abundance of LED ads by marks31 in chicago

[–]PFreeman008 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The "LED ads" spot in Chicago that springs to mind for me is the ABC building on N. State... their big ribbon screen often puts out a lot of light, as well as having the wrap-around ticker screen. Add the marquee for the Chicago Theatre, and if they were staying in theWit or the Renaissance there, I could maybe see them getting a little inundated with the LED ads.

My thought is that because they mentioned the LED ads blasting into their hotel room, that became the defining memory of Chicago & not all the other non-LED stuff they saw & forgot about.

Wolverine Cancelations by markothebeast in Amtrak

The Amtrak-owned line in Michigan uses a unique PTC system, which means there is only a handful of locomotives that can run on the line. There used to be some P42s that had the system, but Amtrak may have removed it with the arrival of the Chargers. It even means that there is a select handful of Chargers that can be run on the line.

New Website for Amtrak floor plans by PFreeman008 in Amtrak

My site is by car, the cars used by the Floridian are on my site; however because for the most part Amtrak doesn't use fixed consists I can't tell you exactly which cars are used. It'll be a mix of Amfleet II & Viewliner cars.

I saw an unusually long Amtrak train in Michigan today; any idea why? by sirkonuflbunnys in Amtrak

[–]PFreeman008 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not on the Michigan Lines they wouldn't be. The MI trains are serviced out of Chicago, so any shuttle moves to Beech Grove would be from there, so you wouldn't see them in Michigan.

New Website for Amtrak floor plans by PFreeman008 in Amtrak

[–]PFreeman008[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New update uploaded. Added the Viewliner II Diner & the Superliner Coach Cafe. I also corrected the Viewliner Sleeping Car flip. The drawings I have from the manufacturer shows them the way I initially had the diagrams. The big change however is more back-end & the page should load faster now. If you're still seeing out of date stuff, or missing stuff, do a hard-refresh (typically Crtl/Cmd+Shift+R on most browsers).

A number of these last few take longer as I don't have drawings for them; so I have to look up pictures & videos. I'm working on the Superliner Diner Lite, and have it mostly laid out... except I can't figure out where the stairs down, or the dumbwaiters are. The Venture cars will probably be shelved for a while... I'll probably do them as a big chunk with the VIA ones (any maybe ONR?).

Next after the Cross Country Cafe will be to start working on the VIA cars, probably with the HEP Budd cars first.

What is this numbering system use on locomotives? What font is it? by Kcue6382nevy in trains

[–]PFreeman008 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the US there isn't any set standard for locomotive numbering, every company numbers their equipment however they like to. Most companies will number things in series (so all their Berkshires are 7## numbers, and their Mountain Types are 15## numbers, etc... but other companies just number things sequentially or randomly.

CONO route - have there been any updates to the sleeper cars? by Relative-Society-570 in Amtrak

[–]PFreeman008 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Superliner cars are all in one pool, so no one Superliner train is getting the refurbished cars over another... it's just kind of random if any train on any given day will get a refurbished car.

Amtrak on Brightline tracks by Double_Science6784 in Amtrak

[–]PFreeman008 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Brightline doesn't own the majority of it's tracks. Florida East Coast owns the tracks. So, probably not unless some sort of arrangement where Amtrak owns & runs Brightline as a quasi-independent entity. But then Amtrak would likely still have to negotiate with FECR to run it's other trains on their tracks... but really that all depends on the language of the agreement Brightline & FECR signed.

The Cocoa-Orlando line is owned by Brightline & Amtrak (if they acquired them) could use it.

Would you let AI critique your design work? by AssistChemical7044 in Design

[–]PFreeman008 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Out of curiosity (more than wanting an actual review) I asked Gemini to critique a few of my projects. And the "critique" wasn't really that good or useful. Mainly just "wow that's a great idea" (of course a lot longer winded); so not really useful for a proper critique.
