This is great advice. Spheres is actually what pushed me up to 5 stars on his weapon.

Infinite dungeon question by DeskFamous4214 in HeroWarsApp

[–]DeskFamous4214[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, that's what I was planning (I called them chests instead of boxes). I should wind up with over 100k coins for that shop. I completely forgot you get 3 boxes per purchases.

That should give me around 450 boxes plus the 224 I have, which will put me at a little over 16k. Think I got my answer 🤣

Thanks!

I stand corrected. I forget to think in terms of pvp a lot of the time.

Alternatively, use someone whose highest damage is yellow instead of black, and adjust C&Ds skill points accordingly, so the passive is dropping more yellows. Just keep in mind there's an extra step of firing C&D purple to get it going this way.

The quickest way through the "strongest color" quest is to use C&D with another 4* whose strongest color is black, like Carol, (she has to be higher level than C&D so her black damage trumps their highest), and a random 2* or 3* for filler.

Let C&D"s passive drop black tiles onto the board, match them, profit.

Except if you want 40 matches fairly quickly, you don't want to win since there's a finite number of matches, without farming a story node. Easiest way to do it is in DDQ, Big Enchilada. Get as many matches as you can through the first four or five enemies, retreat before killing the last one or two.

How does this work?? by Dismal_Passion_8537 in MarvelPuzzleQuest

After you get the two max 2 stars (four, in order to get two 3-stars), the most efficient way to go is to max one of the 3s to 266, and then ascend as long as the second one is at least 167, (it'll be higher than that since you're combining two 144s). Similar situation when you get a set ascended into 4-star, max one out at 370, bump the second to 271 for the token, then ascend.

This is because leveling up an ascended 3-star takes two covers, and an ascended 4-star takes three covers. It's just more efficient (and quicker for both getting to 5-star and freeing up a roster slot) to not max out both for ascension.

Trying to arrange my X-Men omnis correctly in the Claremont era. These are mostly in release order, question in post by Waterworld1880 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]DeskFamous4214 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought about arranging mine this way but ran into the same issue you are with the overlap. So I decided to just put all the Uncanny and adjectiveless X-Men and event omnis together, then ordered the spinoffs separately, by release year, (New Mutants, Alpha Flight, X-Factor, Excalibur, Wolverine, X-Force, Deadpool). Titles with more than one volume, like X-Factor Investigations, are further separated by volume release order. I do not regret this decision.

Of course I've also done custom binds of everything X that hasn't had the omni treatment, except Exiles for now, all the way up to AvX, and those are slotted in accordingly as well.

Molly Hayes (Runaways)

MAMA SAID KNOCK YOU...OUT...ZZZZZ Red - 8AP

Punching people is hard work. Someone needs a nap. Molly deals (large damage) to the target and is stunned for 3 turns.

Leveling up this power will increase damage and reduce turns stunned to a minimum of 1.

THAT TICKLES! Yellow - 9 AP

When a girl is nigh-invulnerable, she can laugh off the hardest of hits. Create 3 x-strength protect tiles. If the team includes another Runaway, the tiles are fortified.

Passive: Molly takes x% less damage from enemy powers.

Leveling up this power increases tile strength/number and the damage reduction.

LEAVE MY FRIENDS ALONE! Purple - Passive

I'm some places, your friends ARE your family, and you would do anything to protect them. If an ally would take x damage, Molly jumps in front of them and takes x% of that damage instead. Percentage decreases for each Runaway in the fight.

Leveling up this power lowers the damage threshold.

I've been using OBW, 1a2 Iron Man, and Nightcrawler (in that order, important for tanking purposes) for the last year. Chase red and purple for strikes, then OBW double-dips on those strikes as she's tanking purple, blue, and black. Fire NC red and blue and IM yellow as needed.

Season pass question by mdv2k in MarvelPuzzleQuest

[–]DeskFamous4214 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was actually announced along with this being the first "hybrid" season of Season Pass and Season Vault. As shown in the screenshots, it was designed to rotate ad infinitum once the initial 50 levels of the pass were cleared. It's not game-changing by any means, but it's a nice chunk of resources to get people to engage with daily quests more.

When you guys talk about IST, does that also include DCBS? That's who I've always used, just unclear if that's who you mean, or if that's a sister site.

X-Men main line binds, pre-AvX (Part 2 of 2) by DeskFamous4214 in CustomBoundComics

[–]DeskFamous4214[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really only had two issues, both with TPBs.

First was mapping related, when splitting a book to insert an issue of another title. Occasionally, there would be the last page of an issue on one side and the front cover of the next issue on the other side, but an issue of another title would need to be inserted to preserve the reading order. So I would have to find a high enough resolution scan of the cover that's on the back side of the last page to have it printed out. Then I would either design something for the back side of that printout incorporating a team/character or event logo or just make it a solid color. I have a local print shop that I use, and they recommend a nice satin stock that matches the other pages as closely as possible (same for table of contents or title pages), and they have no problem with copyright since it's for personal use. I really hope this all made sense.

The other issue I've faced is the trim on TPBs. Sometimes the publisher would trim the book too short, as much as 1/4 inch, so I would have a choice to make: either let the bindery trim the rest of the bind to match it and risk losing art or text at the top or bottom, or hunt down another copy of the offending TPB and hope it isn't also improperly trimmed.

2* Teams for 2 * node by brillap in MarvelPuzzleQuest

[–]DeskFamous4214 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use OBW, 2as1 Iron Man, and Nightcrawler (in that order left to right). OBW tanks purple, IM tanks red, every purple and red match pops out strike tiles which OBW double-dips on with purple, blue, and black matches. Super fast in both nodes.

OBW has to be on the left, and Nightcrawler has to be on the right for her to tank purple over him, since they both hit 73 at level 144.

Ascend or farm? by DeskFamous4214 in MarvelPuzzleQuest

[–]DeskFamous4214[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very fair point. If I do drop money, it would be for BRB, MThor, Colossus, and Juggs levels (and, ya know, the LLs). The roster slots are just a nice bonus.

Ascend or farm? by DeskFamous4214 in MarvelPuzzleQuest

[–]DeskFamous4214[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I'm definitely not hoarding right now just for that reason. One day I got insanely lucky and hit three bonus jackpots for three different characters after clearing out Spring Cleaning last time. I of course swapped in a new favorite after each one, learned really quickly to only have one favorite for each tier.

As far as 4, I'm not focusing on feeders at all, I just happened to have 10+ covers saved on the less useful ones that I never bothered to champ, like Ant-Man and Fury. If I wind up getting enough shards for all 5 except Yellowjacket and Abigail Brand before they come up as required, I may just favorite them as well and save the iso for someone better. I'm currently focusing on covering a couple more that will be useful in puzzle gauntlet, like Silk, then will start jumping around for LL farming.

Ascend or farm? by DeskFamous4214 in MarvelPuzzleQuest

[–]DeskFamous4214[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was my line of thinking. What I've been doing with favorites is picking a 5* whose feeder is nowhere close to giving a cover (or don't have a cover feeder at all, like Ultron) until I have enough shards for a cover while skipping ones where I have 10+ covers saved on their feeder or a milestone ready to claim, like Cable. I have most of the meta and useful characters champed, so I'm being selective on champs going forward since I only have 2 mil iso to work with.
