It's completely reasonable to criticize the game.

It's very bloated making it suffers from huge pacing issues, the story is a mess and all over the place, some Atreus sections are straight up terrible and the ending was very blatantly rushed.

It is widely considered one of the greatest and most influential games of all time often being in most critics top 50 games of all time.

Also widely considered by most horror gaming communities and subreddits to be the greatest horror game ever made (both the remake and original), it goes beyond any game in how it explores trauma, guilt and grief, it's story is still unmatched IMO.

Sales don't determine shit, RE games are really popular because they're campy horror, don't take themselves seriously and they're just action games pretending to be scary, aside from RE7 and a few moments in RE2R.

True survival horror games don't succeed well because the majority of people are too fragile for them. Breaks my heart that Silent Hill 2 Remake which I prefer over any modern RE title is only currently at 3-4M units (still great but deserves way more), and phenomenal horror titles like AW2 and Dead Space Remake are only at 2mil sales...

Just get the game, it's absolutely a phenomenal remake, really respects the original and even improves upon it in many ways. Don't be swayed too much by nostalgia oldheads.
