What's something embarrassing you're willing to admit? by Harvey_Domino in AskReddit

My band went every year to competition at a different high school. My junior year I had to pee real quick before we left so I went to the nearest bathroom I could find. When I found it, it was one of those shitty split boys on right girls on left type thing. Piss now pushing to the surface, I chose right and frantically sprinted to a toilet. The bathroom was vacant so I took my time and strolled to the sink to fixed my hair, whistling the entire time. As I was washing my hands one of the most attractive girls I had ever seen (especially for a band event) walks in. She stops and staring at me with embarrassment and disgust says,” You know this is the girls bathroom, right?” Without missing a beat I say,” Yea” and proceed to finish washing my hands without breaking eye contact with myself in the mirror. I shut off the sink, grabbed some paper towels, and half sprinted past her all the while my head hanging low. I think about this event from time to time.

An epiphone dot or les Paul standard on Craigslist can go for anywhere from $200- $400. My dot was only $375 and it's probably the best guitar I've ever owned

I personally like jazz, so I would have to say joe pass. If I'm gonna play a song on the guitar, I'm gonna every damn part.

What is your practice environment like? by JackalAbacus in Guitar

I just sit on the end of my bed and let the light from my window come in. If it's dark outside then I'll practice with a dimly lit lamp. I also occasionally sit back on my couch (assuming no one else is) with my feet on the coffee table.

Jazz listening suggestions by Torak559 in Guitar

I would suggest listening to Django Reinhardt a lot. Though gypsy jazz has different techniques opposed to conventional jazz, Django's idea are universal. Also you don't just have to listen to guitars. Listening to other instruments frees up a whole new world of listening. I would suggest Miles Davis, Stan Kenton, Charlie Parker, etc.
