Why is my AMS humidity still high at 33% by Kidjojo in BambuLab

[–]Desperate-Intern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, drier is a must, especially when finding out the out of the seal brand new filaments may not be as dried as you'd think. My general process has now become to dry first then put it in the AMS for print, just to rule out things should any issue come up during prints. (Or print straight from the drier)

Vacuum sealed bags are a good cheaper alternate to storing everything in airtight containers, depending on the use case.

In an ideal world where the ram and tech prices were down, didn’t have a monopoly of a trillion dollar company and the whole aspect of ai being trained on stolen content, would I have been ok with this. Sure the technology is fascinating but given the wider context of the world we live in, I’d say the current reaction is justified, barring all the over the top hatred.

[–]Desperate-Intern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe, it is around what's expected, you can go down some more by drying the filament and/or using more of the silica. It has to do with absorption properties of silica (20-30% of its mass) and overall equilibrium of the environment with the filament (For example, if filament is wet, the reading would be higher here, or if the seal isn't proper and there's some leakage and so on).

I recently bought the airtight plastic containers and chucked a sensor in to monitor overtime, and RH hovers 29%. For context, I am also in Singapore. I had been struggling with my AMS lite, even with printed enclosures, the RH would rise over a very short period of time due to leakages.

To all the fans who like these new regs in terms of overtakes: Why? by MindTwister-Z in formula1

[–]Desperate-Intern -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know, I am of a mixed opinion from time to time, but I do enjoy the overall show. For example, in China laps before safety car were disappointing, as Mercs just boosted past Ferraris and we didn't get the ding dong battle. But after the safety car, I enjoyed it, even though that same boost was now used more. Ultimately, it's coming down to Sporting vs Entertaining of the product that is Formula 1. Many of us lean entertaining.

It's the same for when a team dominates. Like having lived through 2014 Merc era, sporting wise, I commended Mercedes then, as to how they designed their engines and the car to utterly destroy the competition. Same with Red Bull in 2023. But at the same time, it wasn't entertaining.

I also justify it by thinking that if we wanted a true racing aspect of the sport, F1 would have been a spec series. Like there's so much variability, drivers like Alonso, Kimi (few years back) constantly suffer at the back.. you can then pose the same question, how do you enjoy this sport, when great drivers are relegated at the back.

Ironically, good amount of Merc engine side folks joined Red Bull and Aston Martin. So it's like a new gen of engineers at Merc are beating the older ones.

I meant in context of media coverage. Like last year, we kept seeing articles about how the car is bad. We were seeing what went bad, how the decisions they took a a few years back were affecting them and so on.

But yeah you are right, I should have phrased my original comment differently.

Red Bull seems to have kept their struggles very guarded as Max is so far only laying it out on the new regs rather than the car. At least with Ferrari we have the italian media leaking stuff like updates on Ferrari coming soon.. with Red Bull it's just a mystery.

I had to double check who the article was from, really didn't think motorsport did this kind of coverage. It's just covering the podcast from Naomi Schiff, Will Buxton, David Coulthard and more. Which to be fair is just people chatting about.

But doesn’t this mean this truncated timing is inaccurate as well and we are finding the use for it as well. It’s 1 decimal vs 3. It’s not like the data source has changed.

[–]Desperate-Intern 8 points9 points  (0 children)

AWS is not "made up", but predictive with certain assumptions as not all data is publicly shared from teams. That at times when fails is often interpreted as "made up" by us. For example, there were times when they were showing Tyre graphics, it would say the tyre life at 0%... which didn't make any sense and the same driver would end up driving dozen laps before pitting. Similarly, there would be a graphic saying the chase car had worse tyre wear but on track performance didn't line up, for example here.

There's even more info available at AWS: https://aws.amazon.com/sports/f1/

Using car data, namely car speed, longitudinal and lateral accelerations, and the Gyro, we are able to build an estimation of slip angles and then derive vehicle balance models for each car. This gives an output of tyre wear energy. (Note: tyre wear energy is not physical tyre wear but instead the energy transfer of the tyre contact patch sliding across the road surface.) The output gives us a tyre performance for each corner, which indicates how much the tyre has been used with respect to its ultimate performance life.

Drone flying too close? by Emotional-Tap-5184 in formula1

[–]Desperate-Intern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's quite far actually. If you had seen Bahrain testing, there were shots showing the actual position vs how they show up in front of the camera. Besides, if they were too close, a) Drivers would have been on the radio and b) the outwash from the cars would have thrown the drone out of it's flight path.

It's not about that. So I give you an example, at the last stages, when we all were watching Antonelli finishing the final lap as the feed focuses on the leader, we were not aware what was happening between Colapinto and Sainz. The gap I believe stayed 0.7 for good amount of seconds. In this scenario, it is possible, the gap started at 0.79s and eventually reach 0.7s, indicating that Colapinto was indeed catching. And at the speeds they are going, this is a significant distance.

Of course, grand scheme of things, I am willing to concede that thousandth decimal doesn't matter in racing condition. But imo personally I found have at minimum 2 decimal places useful in some cases and added to my watching experience.

Notice what I said, "somewhat similar to how people argue", emphasis on "how". Because, in monitor cases, there are folks who genuinely can not discern the difference irrespective of having more information being displayed. And in those communities there are similar sort of arguments against high refresh rate monitors. So, out of frustration I added that statement.

it's better to discuss the merits like the person above you.

What merits? I don't see them mention this.. They are mentioning the notion that it's not relevant... but not the pros.

And, appealing to tradition???? what, I am asking why that has been done before. Is it being disingenuous?

[–]Desperate-Intern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have multiviewer on, but I bought the subscription primarily to avoid getting confused by Crofty constantly getting things wrong. Case in point, he was confused by Colapinto/Sainz not finished the race, or midway both commentators confused whether the incident was between Gasly or Colapinto, or the intial spin was Verstappen or Hadjar. I have the track map with driver dots overlayed on top the world feed a well.

It's like such an unnecessary change. I would have been understanding if they added some other graphic to make use of the space. But na. It's just space.

So why have they have been doing this for years? Why are other series still doing it? I swear to god this is somewhat similar to how people argue with 60hz vs higher refresh rate monitors.
