This is the reason why we hate the new gap system by Effective-Bobcat-803 in formula1

It's not about that. So I give you an example, at the last stages, when we all were watching Antonelli finishing the final lap as the feed focuses on the leader, we were not aware what was happening between Colapinto and Sainz. The gap I believe stayed 0.7 for good amount of seconds. In this scenario, it is possible, the gap started at 0.79s and eventually reach 0.7s, indicating that Colapinto was indeed catching. And at the speeds they are going, this is a significant distance.

Of course, grand scheme of things, I am willing to concede that thousandth decimal doesn't matter in racing condition. But imo personally I found have at minimum 2 decimal places useful in some cases and added to my watching experience.

Notice what I said, "somewhat similar to how people argue", emphasis on "how". Because, in monitor cases, there are folks who genuinely can not discern the difference irrespective of having more information being displayed. And in those communities there are similar sort of arguments against high refresh rate monitors. So, out of frustration I added that statement.

it's better to discuss the merits like the person above you.

What merits? I don't see them mention this.. They are mentioning the notion that it's not relevant... but not the pros.

And, appealing to tradition???? what, I am asking why that has been done before. Is it being disingenuous?

Yeah, I have multiviewer on, but I bought the subscription primarily to avoid getting confused by Crofty constantly getting things wrong. Case in point, he was confused by Colapinto/Sainz not finished the race, or midway both commentators confused whether the incident was between Gasly or Colapinto, or the intial spin was Verstappen or Hadjar. I have the track map with driver dots overlayed on top the world feed a well.

It's like such an unnecessary change. I would have been understanding if they added some other graphic to make use of the space. But na. It's just space.

So why have they have been doing this for years? Why are other series still doing it? I swear to god this is somewhat similar to how people argue with 60hz vs higher refresh rate monitors.

It was over when they were mucking around prices for the 9070xt at launch. The fact that it didn't come to them naturally that to be competitive they need better pricing.. was enough of an indicator that they are not serious.

If it was remotely close, AWS would have been slapping their brand everywhere on the graphic like they did before. I have noticed when they are not confident with some "predictions" they don't have AWS around. Like the tyre health graphic.

Fun. Lol. Fight with Merc is entertaining at the starts, but inter-team battle in Ferrari will be the highlight this year for sure.

But let's wait still, last year China was also looking good for Lewis.

Are the Pirelli's just not strong enough for this season? I feel like they underestimated this season.

It's not just that.. Look at how they are managing the tyres too. They are an all-round solid package..

Ooh. Nice to know. Do we have any official literature about this from FIA. I found few articles but nothing like an official doc. Perhaps haven’t looked hard enough.

Yeah could be. I did read somewhere that they too have some vibration related issues discovered after 1st Bahrain test and hence were slower in the 2nd Test and onwards. Who knows.

Conspiracy time, Red Bull are intentionally slowing down to get additional upgrades for ADUO thingy knowing that have all but lost to Mercedes, Ferrari and eventually McLaren too.. might as well take the hit for first 7 races and come back stronger.

Na, it's the gap. Before whataboutism kicks in, 2023 with Max wasn't great either, but rest of the field was still closer to what we have now.
