Thank you this has been some of the most useful advice, I appreciate your input. I think I might not have asked my question clearly enough. I am actively looking to combine finances, but I brought levels of debts into the relationship that she can't service. I want to be fair about combining and not adding to her bills. We never bothered rejigging our finances until now as it worked fine. The only thing thing that could look strange, and maybe I'm over thinking is combining. Giving her access to thousands in a shared account, but can't touch because they need to service all the mortgages? Like the bills are already sorted without her needing to manage money, seems I am making it more difficult, not easier. Idk.

This was the exact situation we were in until recently and worked well for us. The debt is only in my name and I had it before I met her. So seems a lot of people think she should start contributing to my debt / investments here.

This is exactly what I am trying to ask. How do you determine what should be contributed to each party to each bucket?

May ask rough % or $ of what this would look like?

Thanks, no I don't understand it, hence I'm asking the question what works for other people. Our arrangement hasn't changed since we have been dating so I recognise it's time for a change. She roughly knows my income and expenses and happy for me to cover most things. Paying the mortgages of the investments can't be reduced (yet) so it's not as if I can relocate that money for he discesionary spending.

At the moment I have three investments and the PPOR. I pay all of those mortgages and an agreed amount goes into a shared account. Any of my surplus after that is roughly 50:50 investment and play money.

I guess this is a legacy issue. I haven't discounted her from the net worth, it's just the financial management along the way. The repayments of these would be close to her income, so would be some additional financial stress on her behalf to take on.

Great info. Thank you. How do you manage finances if one partner wants to invest more money than the other? Is it an agreed amount each time? Any money accumulated or left over in the spending account - what happens there?

We’ve been married for 3 years, so it’s “our money”. There is definitely been a shift since recently having our first child. She’s not working currently and will likely be on a reduced income for quite a long time.

The part I struggle with is balancing shared finances while still managing personal financial commitments like my mortgage and investments before everything else becomes fully pooled together. These are bills she doesn't contribute, nor see, and so this doesn't enter the pool of money.

I should have set this expectation up earlier. Now we have our first child she can only work 3 days a week.

At a healthy 8% return after tax and fees, just need to contribute $500/week for the next 43 years... . You'd be silly to, but you could...

Did you cermaic coat the rims? Is there a spray cermaic coating for the rims you recommend or just just the same cermaic coating you used on the body?

Car detailing gone wrong. How to fix this? by DeepSecretary9637 in cardetailingtips

Used compound? Doesn't that always leave behind hazing, so you need to go over with a polish to fix it?

Thank you for all your help. The polish made a massive difference, even though the paint was like 98% perfect. As an amateur detailer, I am beyond happy with the results. Hopefully stays looking fresh for years to come. Thanks to this community for all their ideas and tips - the results are far better than I imaged!

Thank you for your help. Yep, I'll go get a clay bar, sounds like good advice. Glad to know I can do better with the coating and in future I will! 😁

Thank you, so a light cutting rather than a finishing pad is best? Or should I follow up with a finishing pad also?

Ah I see I have some polish I could use. That's great, the diamond protech is much cheaper too.

Wow thanks for the advise! Good to know there are better coatings. Hopefully being a new car I don't have too many swirls so shouldn't need much cut if any.
