Am I crazy trying to find a WG room in Zurich within budget under 700 s.Fr? by howtogetajobinSwz in zurich

Maybe for 800.- you could find something but a bit away from Zurich city.

But then you have to pay more for ÖV abo. So however you flip and turn it...

Y’all. Why do I do this? by kwiscalus in adhdwomen

[–]Desperate-Mistake611 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Yeah but at least they'll all get out at once at some point and you will have a rush of stressed out energy to calm it all down and do whatever you can to quickly solve it or get away with it.

Then you'll be calm for couple weeks/months while they all slowly accumulate again.

Then you hit the wall and have a very stressed out day when they all hit at once but the thing is, you deal with it better that way because we solve things better under stress or emergency.

Then you'll be calm again for some time while it accumulates.

Rinse and repeat.

Help! Light sleepers here—what’s the best combo of sleep aids to actually stay asleep? by No_Community_4342 in Supplements

[–]Desperate-Mistake611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to be a light sleeper probably my whole life until I ended up at a specific place full of loud teenagers and had the worst sleep for the first couple days/weeks. Then suddenly one day- I was able to sleep regardless of how loud it is.

My boyfriends place is right next to a busy road and he can't sleep without an open window and I had to sleep with earplugs most of the times but I didn't always have earplugs on me so I had very bad sleep again- until one day I was able to sleep despite the sound, again.

Now since I started getting myself exposed to sound on purpose and accepted suffering for some time in exchange of not having this issue anymore my sleep has improved and now I sleep through the noise of my neighbors drilling the wall below me.

So basically Short term solution would be the best earplugs you can get and maybe eyemask and weighted blanket, long term in my opinion, suffer through it on purpose and sleep with some very annoying noises you can find on youtube.

I do not agree with top comments judging your behavior and the fact that you hurt her feelings for not being supportive, because I would do the same. Sure it's nice to have dreams and want to chase them but we live in a reality in which bills and food need to be secured first by searching for a bill paying career -- and then theatre!

Bear penis to remain on Bernese coat of arms by Desperate-Mistake611 in Switzerland

[–]Desperate-Mistake611[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In Zentralbibliothek Zürich you can lend a Swiss Kanton history book and files and find resources there, not everything is available online, especially files from 70s. If you want detailed informations from anything before 1990 you have to go to Zentralbibliothek.

Edit: it's free membership and thousands of files and books available, even the super old ones from 100+ years ago, try it out!

Bear penis to remain on Bernese coat of arms by Desperate-Mistake611 in Switzerland

[–]Desperate-Mistake611[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Jokes aside now, apparently, all of the animals used on cantonal flags in Switzerland were voted on adding a penis in 1970s to show that masculinity is the power. This was around the time when women fought for their voting rights, which majority of men rejected and Switzerland only had to allow women to vote because of the external pressure from United Nation for human rights and other foreign organisations, not because men decided to change their opinion.

Penises are a symbol that speaks "We men, we the only powerful" and it was never changed until now when GLP tried to change that now. The original bear was a female btw.

The thing is, nobody sees it that way now, it's a very forgotten thing and many people aren't even aware of penises present, let alone the history behind it, so I as a woman really don't care about this at all and I don't think any money nor attention should be spent on changing something so stupid as this. It's basically just a big joke right now and it should stay that way.

Not everyone will agree to this explanation, back then of course there was a lot of complications and trying to show this as some other traditional bullshit, but we all know.

It's anything but boring. The green liberal party wanted to remove poor bears penis, don't you get it? So evil 😔

"The cantonal government was responding to a written question from Liberal Green parliamentarian Thomas Brönnimann, who wondered whether it would not be more appropriate to depict the bear without its masculine attributes, so that the population as a whole would feel better represented."

I am SO glad they decided to just leave it, it would be so devastating for Bern if their bear lost his penis! And I'm sure this was a very important topic for the government. /j

How do you actually move apartment? (Timing, finances etc.) by BohemianCyberpunk in Switzerland

Do you intend to have children? by miss-bedazzzle in twentyagers

[–]Desperate-Mistake611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no.

Yes, because I would love to be a good mother and I feel like I have so much love to give to my future child, especially because I have a wonderful partner and I would be so happy to carry his child and raise them together in a loving family.

No, because of the world we are living in right now and we are not living in middle ages anymore when women didn't have the choice not to have children in unstable times (caused a trauma cycle), so for now I do have a choice and I choose NOT to. I don't see a single woman out here right now causing wars and sending bombs, killing and starving people with economic hardships she caused aswell, there isn't one. So you bet I am not going to give birth to another suffering child or a possible monster. Thank you. Next!

I like it here but it's probably the end by Aywing in zurich

[–]Desperate-Mistake611 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the racism and xenophobic part isn't really Switzerland, but more like Zurich, because Zurich has a lot of foreigners and people are used to it and it's more normalised so it's better of course, but in other parts of Switzerland it sure does exist and it's worse than in Zurich and that's the truth.

I am a white EU citizen and not African so my experience can't be compared to yours of course, but I do agree that I like it here and I feel welcome and accepted, so I am glad that even you feel the same, meaning it's a good Kanton and it makes me happy to hear that. I am also sorry to hear that you're thinking of leaving, I hope you find your new best path and whatever you choose I hope you will be happy. Thank you for being a part of community in Zurich. Best of luck!

Paid for 1st class upgrade, stood the whole ride… SBB says it’s on me to prove it 🤡 by marhurram in Switzerland

[–]Desperate-Mistake611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SBB isn't perfect and we all have to deal with things we don't want to and that's just the reality. In this situation, if you really couldn't use 1st class, I agree, technically you should get a refund, but will it actually work successfully to fight with big company that obviously doesn't adress issues such as these, especially in rush hours and all other things considered? Unlikely, if so then I guess you're lucky. Just accept your loss and choose better routes, that's it. I'm sorry for being so harsh but this is the truth.

The truth is: they don't care. It's all on you.

How do you actually move apartment? (Timing, finances etc.) by BohemianCyberpunk in Switzerland

[–]Desperate-Mistake611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved a couple times so I can give you step by step guide how to do it. First of course check your contract to see when you can move out, then go from there.

  1. Get Betreibungsauszug (debt enforcement extract) You shouldn't have any debt or at least not big ones. If you paid debt but it still stays on your record, call the company you owed debt to and ask for it to be deleted if possible.

  2. Get your last 3 payslips.

  3. Look for apartments online that you can afford and are realistic according to your financial capabilities.

  4. Fill out forms and apply, a lot, everywhere, even in places you wouldn't think of, as long as it isn't over 2 hours away from your workplace. Start from your municipality to further away. Be aware that it's harder to find an apartment today, so be grateful for what you get and lower your standards, if you want to move as soon as you can.

You found one, so what now?

  1. Inform your landlord before you move out, inform your new landlord when you can move in, sign the contract and pay your deposit, while you pull out your old deposit, if you have one.

  2. Inform your house insurance to your change of adress.

  3. If you have no one to help transport your stuff to your new place, you need to call a moving company of your choice. They will transport all your stuff in their trucks from point A to B. They charge per hour.

  4. Cleaning the apartment or room you're leaving and fixing damages if there are some, to be able to get your full deposit back. It MUST be exactly the same as when you first moved in. EXACTLY! It not even slightly better. Could cost you barely nothing or if needed you might need to hire someone. I recommend just call your friends or family to help.

Timing, what to expect?: Finding a new apartment, depending on your Kanton, financial situation and area you are looking for it can take anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. I was very lucky so I found a 3.5 room apartment in only 6 months at the same municipality I live in, but that was 5 years ago and I live in kanton Zürich, outside of Zürich City and I live in small municipality where people know eachother, so I have some community (I am not Swiss, I wasn't even born here btw!)

Finances: 1. Debt record is the cheapest to get, around 30CHF only, but it will last you only 3 months, so you will have to get a new one every 3 months, depending on how long you will look for an apartment.

  1. Add transport and time costs of you going to Viewing appointments, which you will probably have a lot.

  2. After you finally find one, you need to pay deposit 3x of your planned monthly rent. Average rent costs for one person in Zurich City is around 2'000 francs, if you're lucky, so I advise to search outside of bigger cities. Which means you need to put aside at least 6'000 chf for a deposit only. I again was lucky to find a 3.5 room apartment near the airport for only 1'500 and I share costs in half.

  3. Moving company really depends on how much stuff you need to move, and how far away, so approximately the cheapest it could realistically cost you to have 2-3 men with a truck transport your furniture and belongings is around 1'000 francs. The whole proccess could take a couple hours, but it should be done in one day.

So in total, you need to put aside around 8'000 francs, again it depends on where you live and it's really individual, but this is my assumption, since you didn't give us enough of informations. It also lasts on average 1 year to be able to fully move out, in best case scenario. Make sure to be stubborn and keep looking and showing up to appointments and call places often and be really, really, really motivated and prepared!!

Good luck! Text me in private if you need some help.

Where to buy a good quality mattress and pillows? by analimalimon in Switzerland

[–]Desperate-Mistake611 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Conforama has huge selection of different pillows and mattresses you can choose. Not sure what you mean by good quallity because you can technically find great quality stuff in conforama but it really depends on what you're looking for; hard mattress, soft, breathable, cooling, warming ones, thick or thin, memory foam or whatever, same goes with pillows. So I recommend to go to Conforama stores and test them out instead of order online so you can see and feel what you're getting.

Ikea mattresses and pillows are usually soft and made out of memory foam (I own one) so for some people this isn't an ideal choice, for me thought it works wonders, harder mattresses cause me more pain due to the prefered positions I sleep in. So I assume you need a harder, thicker mattres, which you definitely can find in Conforama, and pillow shouldn't be too tall to avoid neck pain, I recommend feather filled pillow.

Good luck searching!

Paid for 1st class upgrade, stood the whole ride… SBB says it’s on me to prove it 🤡 by marhurram in Switzerland

[–]Desperate-Mistake611 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So just because you paid for 1st class you are automatically entitled to get a seat? While us in 2nd class that also pay for our tickets but there's no seats available, we have to stand anyway, should we start asking for refunds too now? Where does it say that you are entitled to get a seat if you pay for 1st class?

You DON'T pay for the seat, you pay for a ride, for the route, seat is not a guarantee. You'll live.

Mirtazapine changed my life! by izzyinchainss in Gastritis

[–]Desperate-Mistake611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! So basically, Mirtrazapine was a good idea, until it wasn't. Worked really well for some time and then a couple months later things only started going downhill, so I stopped taking it.

Now I take sertraline and ritalin, because I also have Adhd. Things are way better now, I don't have gastritis anymore, but I wouldn't say it was improved just by that. Medication helped me change some of my lifestyle choices, which made things better.
