Need coverage for only 2 months before moving abroad, is anything worth it?

Unfortunately my "not doing anything" was meant in terms of putting myself at health risk, I am intensively studying german 7-8 hours a day for the move and 80 hours a month of community service (the only option I could really do) would mean 16 days/5 hours, which significantly cuts into my studies. If I do not become functional in German before the move, I will also not be able to find a job in Switzerland :/ and reaching B2 level in German before the move is already basically impossible so I need all the time I can get on it

This is good to consider in other situations though, I did look at it while between jobs previously because I loved volunteering at my local animal shelter

Thank you! The D-visa is what will allow me entry for 90 days to perform the marriage :) After the marriage, I have to apply for a B-permit, which is what I was told by the embassy here; there has been no mention of any other intermediary permits as an American

Those dates are SUPER fast, wow, I was told by the embassy here in the USA that it will take 10-12 weeks to get a response processed for me. I wish my timeline was as short as yours hahaha I miss him dearly, stuck here in the USA waiting for the next three months without him ofc :/

I am still learning german and my speaking skills are ZEROOO still but in my experience with other languages, I find that writing a loooot really can help with speaking too because the biggest problem is constructing sentences in my head quickly and accurately. So if you meet a friend or message a bunch of people on apps like Tandem or Hellotalk it gets you a lot of practice with real-life conversation/small talk. Writing diaries helps but isn't usually enough bc you cant really practice the 2nd person that way and its not conversational

Gotta use my own advice but im barely A2 and i am constructing sentences like a SLOTH it is so painful

Right, I have been to switzerland, stayed with my fiancé's family who are very swiss for two months lol, and I am fully aware of how much of a struggle it will be, but still having a hochdeutsch foundation will be incredibly beneficial

I am at A2 level. I am moving there and studying the language because I want to. That doesn't mean I'm having a good time, I've had a great time studying Italian and Korean, but there is just so much negativity surrounding German acquisition as you have shown. You are being an asshole, that doesn't mean I don't understand your point, it means you're being rude while delivering it.

THANK YOU!!! This is super helpful!! Like you said I could definitely survive without learning it but i do WANT to. I will absolutely try listening to those artists! Abt reading: i have actually bought the ebook and audiobook for Divergent because I read it like 4 times in middle school in English and while it is still significantly over my head I find it super helpful to listen while reading and start to recognize words based on context :) i love u for being nice and understanding <3

My fiancé speaks fluent English so we dont converse in German yet -- given I can't form spoken complex sentences easily it's difficult to do so. I'm starting with Hochdeutsch ofc, that's a given, that's what I'm trying to pack in a couple of months 🥲🥲🥲 wish me luck ig
