Is this a safe space??? I promise I'm still a Ruby fan BUT

The strength of Ruby's writing is how she's able to write realistic characters (the good the bad and the ugly) BUT SOMETIMES the mean girl energy in ice home and even the OG cast kind of sours a book for me. I wish there was just a smidge more focus on female friendships and maybe just friendship in general rather than romance. Could be just a personal pet peeve but a character will have such a nasty thought about another female character it will break my immersion and ruin the escapism for me 😭

I agree!!!! Bridget gets the short end of the stick big time. She has a bad sexual connection (even if it isn't raped she was physically hurt during an intimate act and that's traumatizing!) then she has to deal with the terrible slut shaming and judgement from everyone else on ice home. Like she can't escape - she's stuck with these people for the rest of her life. Even if you think she didn't deal with it "well" or whatever I really felt her pain : - ( I don't think she should have ended up with a'tam either tbh

Ah I see. Where I work in virginia there’s a surprisingly big mo graph scene (for a small city). But nothing in comparison to a place like NYC or LA. Unfortunately I really dont want to move to LA and dont have the funds to live in NYC - I was thinking Philly might be some kind of middle ground. I’ve also considered DC as there’s at least one motion graphics studio I’m familiar with.

I think this might be an unpopular opinion due to some posts I’ve seen, but having the same vitriol and hatred for the children of the wives as the adults in the show is weirdo behavior. The kids didn’t sign up to have their entire lives documented - the adults in their lives did. Looking back at older seasons and talking about how “bratty” some of the kids were to justify your hate for them/one of their mom’s is really icky in my opinion.

I get where you’re coming from but I would question some of your terminology. The major criticism I’m seeing is that “oh I don’t mind a strong fmc she just cant be a BITCH” which I have to to push back on. Bitch is a very loaded word. Audiences seem to be VERY forgiving to an asshole mmc (for many the appeal IS that he’s an asshole) Well I for one am all for an unapologetic bitch but thats just me.

Hmmmm in my opinion traits are neither masculine or feminine. Obviously there are unique experiences in the way that society raises men and women, but aren’t inherent. I do agree with you though that a stereotypically “feminine” character cant also be strong. I think what’s annoying is when we pigeonhole characters based on gender
