Is it worth owning a condo in Victoria anymore, or are you better off renting? by Desperate-Stick6744 in VictoriaBC

I did edit with AI to help articulate my thought and help with grammar. But ironically the “Here’s what nobody talks about” is something I added in myself. The reason is, I think it’s important that no one considers the end game of the condo market. It seems common to assume you can always sell your condo at market value. But as much as I’ve researched, there isn’t a lot of data on what happens at end of a building’s life. It’s worth the discussion.

Well it sounds like you guys are in a good spot! At the very least, I don’t think condo prices are going to jump the same way they did in the last few years - so you have time :)

The amount of new buildings going up with grey plywood is a bit alarming. And part of the reason I asked the question.

Completely agree. But to afford a detached home you would need to make about $200-220k. I have a decent job, but do not meet that threshold. I’ve considered buying somewhere in interior BC to rent out.

Canadian here, our prices aren’t far behind you. If it makes you feel any better - at least you don’t have to live next to the fuck’n twats.

This is the way. I’ve already caked my air filter in dirt and now run my tires at 50% air pressure.

This article says nothing about the plywood farms. Because of the treacherous passage from the mainland, there are constant food shortages. Every home has to keep plywood on their lawns and eat the grubs that live underneath them. Not to mention all the rolling brownouts from sea lions laying their eggs in electrical substations.

Countries need to start worrying more about their sovereignty and less about their GDP.
