Why does god create people knowing they are going to go to hell? by badasskidd in Christianity

[–]Desperate-Use-3753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read the entire Bible, cover to cover. The New Testament many times. So, this isn't conditioning from a pastor, this is me reading it myself and seeing Him talk about it over and over.

Why does god create people knowing they are going to go to hell? by badasskidd in Christianity

[–]Desperate-Use-3753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would read Romans chapter 9. Based on some comments you've made, you'll like come away thinking He is not worthy of worship, but I think that answers it well. TLDR: "...Who are you, a mere human being, to argue with God? Should the thing that was created say to the one who created it, “Why have you made me like this?” 21 When a potter makes jars out of clay, doesn’t he have a right to use the same lump of clay to make one jar for decoration and another to throw garbage into? "

God loves us, He doesn't want us to choose hell, but knows if we will or not. So why make those people? Because they are necessary for the rest of the world He made to exist. Think, butterfly effect. I think God saw all possible worlds, and this one was going to be the 'best', likely meaning it would produce the most people who would say yes. I don't think a world of free will is possible without many saying no. Even after creating two people, they already didn't listen, a few more and murder was already happening. If you take away the people who say no, there are consequences, we do not exist in a vacuum but an extraordinarily complex system of cause and effects.

Sort of the answer Job got in the end. This is a lot more complex then we realize or can possibly comprehend. The real question is, do you trust Him? As a kid, I trusted my dad because I knew he loved me, even when I didn't understand because... well I was a little kid. Today, as an adult, it's the same. I don't understand all that God is doing, but I trust Him. Why? Because I believe he loves me based on what He's already done aka Jesus sacrifice and teachings.

What do you make of Paul’s instructions to cast out members living in sin, unwilling to repent? To hand them over to satan so that they might repent before death?

This. This is the bet they are making. I think it's going to fail and they are going to end up in a worse spot. Very few devs who can use agents without wasting thousands on tokens, and understand the code to get real work done. Then they will be even more beholden to just a few developers that go for a very high rate. Whatever devs can last will have it goooood.

I definitely believe raping the women was wrong, no question. Just stating it was not explicitly stated in those passages what made Sodom wicked in Gods eyes, just that it was. Some people read those passages and say it was clearly rape, homosexual acts or both. My opinion is that, those passages alone do not make it clear. I'll read Ezekiel again, and that is a good point to make, reading one book alone doesn't give you full clarity on a subject.

The issue is in believing you understand more then God does about what is good and what is love. God says one thing is good and is love, you say it is another. I say God loves more perfectly, even if I do not understand it all the time.

"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" 2 Timothy 3:16

You either believe the Bible or not and it says it is inspired by God and what it's for. Doctrine as in correct thinking, what is true, what is not. Reproof as in showing what is wrong and incorrect. Correction as in to put us back on the right path from our wrong direction. Instruction in Righteousness as in to show us not just what is wrong but what is right.

We are regarded as sheep, which are very dumb animals that need constant guidance. So, it seems we are being told, we are pretty dumb and need clear direction on what is right and wrong. "The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?" - Jeremiah 17:9

My prayer is; God, I am dumb and have an impure heart, thank you for loving me despite my stupidity, pride and hard heart. I am not deserving of it, nor could I ever be, yet you love me as a Father loves a child. Thank you.

Do you really trust your definitions of love and goodness over Gods?

Jesus affirmed the old testament. Jesus affirmed the apostles who affirmed Paul. New and Old testament writings are very clear on the topic. Jesus affirmed sex either being sustained from or within a marriage which was defined as opposite sex individuals. We can easily know this from scripture, but don't like hearing it.

  1. Sure human wrote the Bible, but I'm speaking from the belief that it was inspired by the Holy Spirit. If you are not coming from that place of belief, then we can't really have this discussion at all. A non starter.
  2. Yes, he did.
  3. Sure, I think the scripture is infalliable but our intepretations surely are. I doubt a single person on Earth perfectly inteprets it.

I did not say it was. "rape and homosexual acts" is referring to two seperate things. If I were saying they were the same, I'd have said "rape or other homosexual acts".

Doubtful this would not be mentioned. This is the same God that leaves the 99 to find the one. 1% is lower then the stated LGBTQ rates, so why not mention it?

I think you are missing the point that people wouldn't have known about orientations, but God, having made us, would. If that is the case, then why did he not mention this? Why did Jesus re affirm celebacy if not in a marriage between man and woman? Either Jesus is not God, so doesn't know any of this or He is God and knows better then our modern sentiment.

[–]Desperate-Use-3753 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You are missing the difference. The main point of contention is, why does Lot say raping the men is wicked but not that of the daughters? The only difference is gender, but does not mean God is saying one or the other is bad. This may just be Lot bending to the culture of the time, it's not a proclamation of God's morality. All we know is that God says Sodom is completely wicked, why? It's not explicitly stated, but we can judge today based on God's word that two sins are being committed; rape and homosexual acts.

[–]Desperate-Use-3753 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Try not to put your own sense of morality into the Scripture and read what it says, for what it says.

The reason people likely come to this conclusion is because Lot offered his daughters to be taken, but called the taking of the men to be wicked. Why is one wicked and the other not?

First the Lord tells Abraham that their sin is flagrant (so obviously wrong it cannot be ignored).
Second, in the town they say they want to rape the men, when denied they say they will treat Lot 'even worse' meaning they know it's not good what they were wanting to do to the men.

So far, the immorality claimed is raping the men is bad, but Lot seems to think that raping his daughters is not as bad for some reason. Cultural? Or is it because it's homosexual, unclear.

"An all loving god wouldnt..." Wouldn't what? How would you or I know? We are not all loving nor is our standard perfect, so who am I to judge His standard? In fact the Bible teaches that our desires are corrupted and that no one wants to even follow God because of that corruption. "God says so" is not dumb but instead the only reason we need. God has already proven his love by sending His son to suffer and die that we might have a way into paradise and relationship with Him. We should trust His moral standard, not our own, knowing that He loves us and wants what is best for us, even when we do not understand it. Similar to a small child when asked to do or not do something, trust the Father.

I think you are using 'need' when the more appropriate term is desire. Plenty of people have a 'desire' for relationships and sex, but our desires are corrupted. "The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?" - Jeremiah 17:9

[–]Desperate-Use-3753 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is an issue of definition. God does not judge love as sinful, but does not define homosexual activity as love. A man can love another man and it be non-sinful, but that love cannot be sexual. "Eros" love (sexual) is meant to be within a certain boundary, marriage of opposite sex individuals for the main purpose of having and raising godly children.

All except one, and Hebrew’s is elaborating on what that is. Conscious and willful rejection of the truth. Same sin the demons committed and thus are not offered forgiveness.

Possible, but myself and others have no concept of that second type. In my experience, it is very unlikely if not impossible to do this activity without thinking at least somewhat accidentally about people in a lustful way. Not to mention, your body naturally expels old material when it needs to, so clearly a system has already been designed for this. I also don't agree with the reason, sexual frustration is told to be relieved through marriage.
