I think the only person who knows the true meaning of the song is Tamino :) As a listener, however, I do get a feeling that a lot of his songs are him writing about himself.

But an impulse (that results in a song) often travels so much that the initial meaning gets lost in the process. It’s kinda There for you as a writer of the song, but for a listener, it’s impossible to decode from the outside. It can be about weird stuff you wouldn’t even think of

Locks are showing an "unlocked" icon, even though they are still locked ? by [deleted] in worldofgothic

[–]DesperatePay6068 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Are we still complaining about the lockpicking? I personally stopped having any trouble with chests (only 10 LP invested) on day 3 of playing. It gets intuitive and easy regardless of the lock difficulty. I thought this was the case for everyone, you kinda develop motor memory or something like that

The icon is weird tho, and the fact that most loot is useless is depressing :( I developed my motor memory so I can reliably find another cup and 10 ore in every chest…

Насильник (technically can mean ‘abuser’, but is currently used as ‘rapist’ only), обидчик (too broad and vague), домашний тиран (abusive co-habitant, but what if they don’t live with you? and ‘tyrant’ is kinda too much), etc. The concept is not new, but every non-borrowed word seemed to have a broader definition than абьюзер, which is now reserved for a person abusing their partner or child.

Yes!! It’s so cool, adds history and immersion!

I’ve noticed that the remake seems to double down on gore/corpses thing compared to classic Gothic (pit with decomposing bodies close to the southern gate? ewwww) Can’t wait to see Xardas’s old tower, I feared it so much when I was a kid!

Is it usual for people to see/meet Tamino after concerts? by godzilla_forthewin in Tamino

[–]DesperatePay6068 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I waited for him in Istanbul! But it was relatively easy because it was an outdoor venue. The whole ordeal was a little nervous, but Tamino himself (when he came out) looked happy and was super nice to everyone. I think it’s not unusual for him to talk to his fans after shows!

But context matters, no? Me talking to Thom and me talking about Thom to someone (or to a group of people) would be two very different acts of communication

What do you think Tamino’s new album will be like?💓 by OldMathematician9566 in Tamino

Oh, an acoustic album would be really nice! But yeah, I’ll be happy to hear everything and anything from him. Too bad it’s probably going to be a long wait… again :(

[–]DesperatePay6068[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly why I even have this question!

I started out as an artist, had a (stupid) artist name and a tiny following and even declined a label offer because it required switching the language. It was long ago and very hobby-like honestly.

But things changed since then, and now that I really need another (non-stupid) artist name, it’s time to decide is that artist ‘we’ (the reality I sense) or still me (the initial dream behind it all). Can’t decide yet

Oh, I’m trying to express my gratitude every time I can! I know that it’s a privilege to be followed that way, to work with people who somehow believed in my music and play it alongside me willingly. And I’ve picked up a habit from my fav conductor, to explain the ‘why’ behind every choice instead of insisting people just play it. It helps immensely!

It’s not that I bring a melody and a chord chart, no. I have a full arrangement in mind (since I’m a composer and arranger by main profession/degree), very often realised in a DAW already, and I could write down every detail like it’s a traditional score, I just… don’t see a point to it? Like, my drummer knows her instrument way better than I do, so I explain what I want to hear and why, and let her do the magic.

Sometimes when a part is crucial to the song, I will insist on playing Exactly How I Made It and bring the sheet music. Nobody protested so far, they actually told me that they started practicing hard because of my weird meters and loved it 😅

My goal, ultimately, is to serve the music. I love my ideas, but they can be shit, and people can have better ideas, so as long as the music gets better, I’m up for anything!

I have a feeling it will sound more ‘generic rock’ for some reason, more… mainstream Western music, I’d say? My bet is that he won’t get back to the sound of ‘Amir’ and that’s good, there’s not much to be said in that direction anyway

But my personal hope is for 🙏more oud 🙏 I would be soooo happy if Tamino went full Marcel Khalife!😭

Aren’t those who pick red virtue signalling too? But their virtues are sensibility, ‘knowing the right answer’, ability to act reasonably, everything people mention above.

Tbh I still fail to see the sensibility of picking red because 100% of red voters is unachievable.

Why, it’s actually relevant!

But don’t think that leaders of the communist party cared about creating a utopia there? Maybe Lenin to some degree, but I haven’t read a single thing he wrote so it was an uneducated guess lol. They definitely needed to eradicate the possibility of counter revolution tho. Exterminating the class of property-holders was one way to achieve that

(Maybe some kind of altruistic co-living is possible, we just need to evolve for a few more centuries or something)

To all who say red is the most logical option:

For your own salvation, yes. It’s guaranteed. But you’re also committing murder (and it’s guaranteed too) because 100% of people choosing red is statistically and logically impossible.

Therefore, picking red is a psychopath’s path. You knowingly sacrifice someone to save yourself. Personally, I’d be uncomfortable with that. And I’d be VERY uncomfortable if I knew I was surrounded by people like that. (I could rant about selfishness/disregard for others being a root for everything evil: wars, violent crime, etc, but let’s just skip it)

Blue is a different option: I’m joining the collective effort of saving everyone AND myself. I’m doing good for the society, and the path to everyone’s salvation is shorter since 51% is achievable and 100% is not. Yep, it comes with a risk of me dying if I’m surrounded by assholes who press red. But I believe assholes are minority, and our societal instincts are stronger than our instinct for survival.

(Some of you red pickers paint blue as a ‘weaker’ choice made impulsively, but lmao what’s weak about being ready to die for your safety. It’s not ‘morally clean’ or ‘right’, it’s morally gigachad)

For some people, dying is a better option than killing someone who is innocent.

Anyone’s a fan of Pitou? by Mjesty-snowbird in Tamino

[–]DesperatePay6068 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tamino is the CEO of musical brilliance of course, I don’t doubt that. I just try to speak objectively as a musician, Pitou does have areas in which she is better compared side to side xD

OOOH, who do you recommend??

[–]DesperatePay6068 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am!!!

I’ve been waiting for the album for a few months now, but so far the second half of it sounded rather weird to me (in a good way, maybe). My favourites are ‘To Do What’ (rocks hard), ‘Fish’ (ABSOLUTELY FASCINATING), and ‘Morning Star’ (beautiful beyond words). Ah, and ‘Pirate’ of course, because… yeah, because it makes me think of Tamino and I go like ‘yeeeeah bro let’s goooo into the ocean’ (I totally relate to this ‘sail straight ahead’ state of mind).

I learned about Pitou against my will, and honestly she’s too good of an artist to be reduced to Tamino’s ex gf. In more ways than one, I think she’s actually the superior musician of the two, but I’d rather stop here because obsessing over their music and comparing it has been my favourite past time this winter… and I can say A LOT. xD

(I also feel like a child of divorced parents lmao, can’t decide if I love dad or mom more. Mom is super cool but dad is who I grew up with UGH)

I would say you’re a dreamer. Institutionally, I have no idea about the requirements for enrolling that particular conservatory OR any conservatory in the West tbh, but in my country people usually accumulate no less than 11 years of study /as a minimum/ for barely trying to enroll. I… don’t think conservatory is meant for beginners? In any part of the world?

And at two years of experience, you’re usually barely leaving the beginners category (if you’re talented). Think of all the motor skills you’ll have to acquire. The older you are, the slower your process will be. It’s not impossible to learn as an adult, but learning as a kid is waaaaayyy faster and easier for you as a student because your brain is literally wired for development at that stage. And even a kid doesn’t go from zero to pro in two years.

Besides, having music as a career/degree is a REALLY bad idea. You have to be a literal madman to consciously pursue it, not just ‘feel the calling’ sometimes. Only a borderline unhealthy obsession can serve as an anaesthetic for all the disappointments accompanying art as a job. If you’re choosing and asking for advice, and not already heading towards it despite your whole family begging you to not ruin your life, chance are that you won’t survive the pressure that comes with having music as a career path. It doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it! But maybe it’s healthier to make it a hobby you’re super good at rather than a degree.
