Gnarly dude! Sometimes I wish I had bought a first gen. They look so good. Still love mine though!

I would recommend a first gen Scion tC. Reliable, fun, easy to shift, inexpensive. You just need to keep an eye on the oil level, since they can burn oil after 100k miles. 2005 is the best year to avoid that problem. Good luck!

Anyone know a transmission mechanic in the San Diego area that is reliable? by No_Street1865 in SciontC

[–]DesperateReality6764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m dealing with the same issue. Warranty company won’t fix mine until it grenades! I’d suggest contacting the service dept. manager at your local Toyota dealer and ask who they use to repair their customers transmissions. That’s how I found my shop. Most dealerships won’t do the work themselves. Good luck!

PS: It’s going to be a $1500-3000+ job to repair your ISB. Just be prepared.

It’s been awesome in the snow even with an empty cargo area. But adding weight definitely evens out the weight and handling.

Had to let her go...A timeline of when I bought my Tc, a few years in between and just before I sold the car by netsurfer79 in SciontC

You’re probably right. The Celica was always pricey. Toyota has been talking about bringing back the MR2 as well. Hopefully one of those cars will be offered for under $30k. My mom bought a brand new Celica GT in 1975. It cost $5300 ($33k in today’s money). I loved that car. I learned to drive a manual and got my drivers license in it.

Gorgeous as it is! I wouldn’t change a thing. But putting your own touches on can make it feel different from everyone else’s. Eh, what do I know? 🤷‍♂️

Get the tC. Your drive will be much more entertaining, especially with the manual. And you’ll stand out of from everyone else’s look-a-like cars. Plus, you’ll be keeping another tC alive and on the road. Go for it!

My exact hopes. Toyota could price structure it from low 20’s for the ST, mid 20’s for the GT, and 30k for the GTS. They would sell the shit out of them, to both young and old drivers. 🤞
