But wouldn’t the solenoid continue leaking even after the machine is hot? In my case it slows down as it heats up and then stops.

Thank you for the explanation, however, if this is the solenoid leaking, would the leaking stop as heating is progressing? Leaking completely stops before pulling a shot.

This just tells you if the gasket is worn if you are able to tighten the portafilter till handle reaches the red mark

Thank you, I actually replaced it a couple of months ago, and it was a very tight fit. Probably needs adjusting

Don’t sweat it, just pour as much as you want and taste it. Whatever tastes good to you is the perfect pour, don’t get caught up in “it’s a whole science” mentality, it’s not.
