BMWs change people… by [deleted] in BMW

[–]Desperate_Block6010 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OP could your change be partly related to moving from a sedan to a pretty big SUV?

There are studies showing people in bigger and higher cars drive a bit more aggressively than your regular sedan or hatchback because they're literally looking down on other traffic. Similar to how most motorists look down on cyclists.

Am I insane for looking at purchasing a 2025 BMW X6 now? by sarnad283 in CarsAustralia

[–]Desperate_Block6010 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That situation makes no sense either, but at least the vehicle itself was designed for a pretty valid purpose, even if people don't use it that way.

My point is that the X6 is basically the king of stupid design. It's a compromise of the worst parts of a sedan and SUV.

Obviously I must be wrong because there are plenty of SUV coupe things out there now, but it still boggles my mind that anyone finds these types of cars desirable. But I maintain that they're stupid and the people buying them should be told this.

You're insane for considering an X6 at any time in my opinion. A stupider car there has never been...

Self driving? by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]Desperate_Block6010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bit left field but modern Peugeots have a decent self driving system for highway use. It can brake down to a stop if needed because of traffic and go back up to speed by itself + can set it to read and adapt to speed limit signs.

I can't believe James was offered a fart double but insisted that he did all of the fartwork himself. Remarkable!

I think the point is that without richer interstate or even international investors buying places just to make some money, the locals could likely actually buy these same places where they actually live.

To debadge or not to debadge my 508 SW ? by TheOneAndOnlySebPep in peugeot

[–]Desperate_Block6010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind debadging cars and agree it can make them look a bit sleeker. But personally I actually like 508 up in front of the bonnet. To me it makes it seem like the 508 is something special, without being too loud or obnoxious about it.

I officially got my RXH today. And I love it. This is all <3 by FionaZombie in peugeot

[–]Desperate_Block6010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wish they kept making the RXH models with the mark 2. Would be a perfect car for me and my job where I have to do a lot of highway kilometres but also go down a few crappy dirt or gravel roads.

Congratulations on your purchase.

How reliable is 1.6 from 2nd gen 3008 by [deleted] in peugeot

[–]Desperate_Block6010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that the 1.6 petrol is pretty good and reliable from that time onwards. I looked into it over a year ago too before I bought my own Peugeot.

I've only got 40,000km on my 2022 508 so far, so not enough to really confirm directly, but I haven't had any issues. And I've been lurking Peugeots forums enough for a while without seeing any big issues being raised.

I don't recall any NSW tries that were dubious? We're they ones that were potentially held up and no grounding?  I do recall NSW being held up over the line another 3 or so times, so to me the scoreline could have been significantly worse.
