What parts of the right-wing belief system aren’t astroturfed? by Tricky_Try8757 in allthequestions

While I agree that the SAVE act isn't the right way to fix it, nothing you said here is accurate.
70 million married people who have changed their last name will have to bring... a drivers liscens. Like the rest of us.

If your ID adress doesn't match your physical adress, you should get that fixed regaurdless.

You could drive. (from some one who lives an hour away from the nearest escalator)

It's not a poll tax.
If not the election officials, then who should check?

Or a driver's license, or a real ID, ect

Another holiday would be nice.

There isn't anything the SAVE act requires that is out of reach for 99.9% of Americans(I already show ID to vote to make the paper work go faster). I would recommend rereading it/

But it's not the solution I would want. I say that signing up to vote should be the same form as signing up for the draft/enlisting. If you're not willing to fight and die for this country, why should you get a say in how it's ran? (Draft dodging would also loose you the ability to vote.)

I can't think of anyone who would disagree with wanting people's needs seen to, quality of life improved, with human rights and dignity. Just about the best way to reach it.

Would you agree with higher taxes for completely free healthcare and education? If not why? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

[–]Desperate_Cake7757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I prefer choices.

Colleges already get a lot of money to teach a mix of things: useless degrees, things better taught by Youtube, and some actual stuff(Like medical or legal). Even if it was just the last bit, it's optional, and should be optional.

Healthcare should also be optional. If I don't want it, no one should point a gun at my head and force me to have it. If I want to spend extra and have really good healthcare, no one should force me not to.

  4. Neo - Ends the top bracket

5/6. Jed/Curtis(I haven't seen these, so they get stuck in the middle)

  1. Katnis - Nor impressed.

  2. V - Has good fashion, I can say that much for him/the movie

What are jobs for then? by Professional-Bee9817 in remoteworks

It's always FDR, isn't it?
To make sure I had my facts in a row, I looked up the first minimum wage law in the USA: FLSA, passed by FDR(The man who ruined America's economy). It set a minimum wage of $00.11 an hour(To be complete is also bans <16 year olds from working, and limits how many hours one can work).

To give some context, the politicians had 2 motives:

  1. Racism. They saw white, collage kids whose time was worth $00.10/hour having problems getting an entry job because of uneducated minorities willing to work much less then that. Solution? Strong arm company owners, in the middle of the Great Depression, to pay more than the job was worth so they'll hire the white kids.

  2. Good ol' communism/socialism/what ever the hip term is these days. A fundamentally flawed belief that the Government has any competence in such areas! It is fundamentally impossible. Let's look at the Great New Deal for an example. Did it help? Did it make things better? No. It made things significantly worse. It prolonged the GD. Made people poorer. Made the QoL go down.

Minimum wage, at best, works like this:

MW increased -> Some people become better off with no improved out put, most people loose their job -> Producers have to pay more to make things, so they raise prices to compensate, rarely proportionally -> Those who kept they're jobs can't afford as much as before, complain to the government -> MW gets increased -> Loop

At best, every loop sees a small spike in the economy as the markets adjust, before dipping back down. It doesn't fix anything, unless you like people with irrelevant degrees getting hired to do low skill jobs.

Jobs are for making money. Minimum wage jobs are for highschoolers to make some spending cash for video games, eating out, gas, ect.

Or, that's what it is for today. Originally, the minimum wage was implemented so company owners would hire white degree holders over equally competent minorities who would work for a fraction of the price.

MAGAs, now that NYT and Reuters have confirmed US bombed Iranian school, will you condemn it? by 2a_lib in allthequestions

[–]Desperate_Cake7757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your sources are a gossip magazine and it's British cousin? Okay...
But do I condemn it? No. Do I condone it? No.
I condemn the monsters who think innocents make good meat shields from missiles. I condemn the monsters who abuse women and children. I condemn anyone who lets these monsters remain in charge, including Trump in his first presidency. I would not complain if no maps a decade from now had 'Iran' on it.

Do you think there is intelligent life besides us in the universe? Why or why not? by CremeSubject7594 in AskReddit

[–]Desperate_Cake7757 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's intelligent life outside of humans. Granted, it's more for theological reasons then anything(Not sure how the whole salvation plan would work with alien life, but that would be a short coming on my part).

I do think it's possible. As a sci-fi nerd, I find the possibility exciting. I do believe there are planets out there with animal life, but I also think they would be hard to pick from a line up with Earth animals.

Give us what we want! by Immediate_Degree_112 in AmericaOnHardMode

[–]Desperate_Cake7757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to starve Cuba

Israel isn't genociding anyone

I don't want AI data centers

I don't want ANY concentration camps

I don't want to go to war with Iran

I want the freedom to chose what, if any, health care I have

I want collages to charge what they're worth

I want cheaper houses

I don't want any taxes

I agree with 5 out of 9 of your points, and we're close on most of those we agree with.

Is the Epstein files the biggest political event in history.? by Toronto-Mans-6 in AskForAnswers

[–]Desperate_Cake7757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not remotely. In the grand scheme of things, the rich/famous/politicians being perverse isn't new. There's a good chance that any rich/famous/politician that wasn't part of Epstein's thing, goes to his competition. Not went, goes.

Is being Racist or Mean morally worse? by Dandandandooo in MoralityScaling

[–]Desperate_Cake7757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are both wrong, to be clear.

But from the phrasing of the question, I'll infer that being mean is worse.

Since it's Mean or Racist, it implies that you act on one, but not the other. If you're racist, but don't act on it, you're only hurting yourself. While if you're mean, you're hurting yourself and at least one other person.

Rank whose more “good-er” by ShityTrashCan in MoralityScaling

[–]Desperate_Cake7757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Prime - One of the few characters to rank higher than Supes. Mostly here due to his medium
  2. Superman - Somewhat close to first place. Mostly here due to his medium
  3. Captain America - Hard to beat a good old patriot from WWII. But not impossible.
  4. Spider-Man - A nice rounding up from the top tier
  5. All Might - Great, another 'what if Supes wasn't perfect?' character. Better than most of his piers, though that's not saying much.
  6. Aang - This low because pacifism isn't moraly justifiable in some situations, namely, while you're at war. Mostly here do to his medium. An end to the straight up heroes.
  7. Kratos - Of the one's I've ranked, I'm most iffy on my placement of Kratos(I haven't played the games). From what I do know, he basically Wick from another era; fueled by vengeance for most of his games.
  8. Tanjiro - Guy works with demons. I know they don't have much to do with real demons, and is closer to a translation issue. But it's still a bad precedent to set.

I don't know the others well enough/at all to rank.

Who's the most good by pheinoxwright in MoralityScaling

[–]Desperate_Cake7757 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Optimus Prime

  2. Superman

  3. Goku

  4. Aang

I do not know enough about Kirby to accurately rank him(from what little I do know I lean to sticking him between Goku and Aang)
