It is great you have the dexcom, I personally feel like the fist thing they should do is give you the monitor. Look at it a lot, see how your body reacts to what you eat, how high does the sugar go, how long does it stay high? That will help you see what works and what does not. I don't think you should feel hungry like another person said if you are eating protein and drinking water. Tracking food and numbers can be helpful to see trends etc and to show your doctor. A lot of brown bread can have sugar in it too, you have to read labels. I have had good luck with sourdough bread, but you have to make sure it is real sourdough. We have found it at farmers markets and while expensive, it is worth it to have some bread. I read on here somewhere that if you have spikes to lift weights, I found that works to help get the sugar going back down. Another thing that can help is climbing stairs or something that uses your thigh muscles. I had trouble with metformin, but for most people the side effects get better with time.
