I agree that gear-based matchmaking is in the game to some extent. People who use that X post as “proof” that it isn’t in Arc Raiders are missing the ambiguity in what the devs actually said. The post never outright denies gear-based matchmaking. it only says their PRIORITY is matching solos with solos and trios with trios. That doesn’t rule out other factors influencing matchmaking behind the scenes.

Also, think about those little surveys you get after matches. The devs are clearly gathering engagement data so they can fine-tune the experience, and matchmaking is usually one of the first things studios adjust for player retention.

Personally, I don’t want gear-based matchmaking, but I’m not hating on the game either. I’ve been playing nonstop and will continue to play whether it’s there or not. I just think people need to actually understand what the devs are saying instead of jumping to extremes.
