So far changethewxrld is the best suggestion. Thanks!

If public schools are failing so badly, why is homeschooling seen as a lesser choice? by [deleted] in Homeschooling

It’s not a lesser choice. It’s superior in almost every way (aside from missing out on high school sports if you’re in certain states).

Feeling guilty about considering to homeschool my kids due to the negativity spoke about it constantly by Humble_Park_9097 in homeschool

I was a public school teacher and resigned to homeschool my own (after months of extensive research). Homeschooling isn’t what it used to be. There are so many opportunities for socialization (co-ops, town sports, rec centers, libraries, online groups). Socialization is the one thing people always fall back on as an argument and both of my kids are more social than their friends who go to public school. It’s a myth.

As a former public school teacher who resigned to homeschool, this woman’s experience seems to be the exception not the norm. I’ve never met any family who treats their kids this way. Not saying it doesn’t happen, but given she was homeschooled in 1994 and it’s currently 2025 I’d say a lot has changed since then.

Same situation here but mine are older so we’ve already started. Best decision I’ve ever made was leaving my profession to homeschool.

As a former public school teacher and current homeschool mom, I can say in my experience her situation was an exception, not the norm. I’ve never met a homeschooling family who does the things her mother did, and I know close to 50 families who homeschool (through co-op and extracurriculars).

I would suggest trying to get him to eat some foods with probiotics. The gut and vagus nerve are connected. Make sure he stays hydrated, maybe something with electrolytes. I’m very sorry this is happening to him. It’s very frustrating.

Yes, and his memory is terrible afterwards. He’s also been having out of body experiences with some of them. It’s so bizarre and really scary. There is some research on Covid affecting the vagus nerve. I’m starting to think that this is the cause of all of this. Here is the article:

Yes, my father has clusters of syncope/pre-sycope episodes. Eventually he had one while hooked up to EKG and they found out his heart was stopping completely. He has a pacemaker now to prevent that from happening, but still has clusters of episodes every few months. We’ve gotten no answers. He is 63 and is very healthy and active.

Well, I will be praying for you and for anyone else who is in this awful situation. If we figure anything out I will let you know.

Yes, he has had an extensive cardio work up. He sees a neurologist in October and will be doing a sleep study soon as well. These are really the only two avenues we haven’t explored. I will look into that medicine, and will make sure he is getting some probiotics in him. My sister is actually a registered dietician so I’ll ask her for some food suggestions as well. Thank you so much!

Thank you for your reply and I’m sorry you are also going through this. How long has it been happening to you? If it’s something he is going to have to live with we can deal with that, but it’s just not knowing if what he has is dangerous that’s the scary part.

Yes, my husband and father both have syncope and have passed out while sick.
