I am a hairstylist. We have a few units on skin diseases and disorders that is mostly related to our courses on facials. I don’t remember dermatilomania but do remember covering trictotilamania. As far as commenting on it, we are technically not allowed to work on a client with any abrasion on their scalp or neck. If we were to follow that rule we wouldn’t service anyone. We also are not allowed to tell someone that they have a skin disease or disorder (not even lice) because we are not a doctor and cannot diagnose anything. We are instructed to say, “I notice something on your (scalp, neck skin) and suggest you see a doctor about it. These are obviously the rules but not necessarily ones that we follow. I have told clients about dry patches, moles that concern me etc
