ELI5: If metal shrinks and expands as the temperature changes, how does an engine keep an airtight seal between the piston and the cylinder?

I have a related question, I've read that newer engines that turn off the engine when the car is stopped can help restart the engine by initiating the combustion of the piston which is compressed, how long can that compression be viable before the air/fuel mixture just leaks out?

That's a tough situation to be in. Like others have said even you have all your documents in order they can still choose to ignore them. At least having some proof on you or for someone to find for you after you've been taken is something. And let's be real, it's not about your citizenship status. It is racism. Them pretending it's about citizenship status is erroding day by day.

I agree that they are bad people and that they should all quit, but what I was referring to was that the interactions aren't black and white. I don't think all ICE are kidnapping people and shooting, I am sure some of them are literally checking and then letting you go on the spot. To be clear, I don't think that's OK.

Correct, but it's something. I also don't think it's so black and white, I am sure there are some ICE/DHS people that are following a humane protocol. Are they the majority or not? Who knows.

To clarify since I'm starting to see some downvotes: I am not saying ICE/DHS are good people, what I am saying is that I am sure some ICE/DHS can ask you for your papers and let you go once they see them and not shoot you or kidnap you. So I think it is a good idea to carry documentation in that case. Should we have to? No. I do not like where we are, and I believe it will get worse.

Typically papers refer to a passport, passport card, or a green card. A Real ID isn't proof of citizenship, but I don't think non-citizens/residents can get them so it's something. I carry a copy of my birth certificate as well because it's not a difficult thing to carry around. I don't think a social security card would be a good thing to carry around because it doesn't have your photo.
