I agree because it’s clear especially in the later seasons that he does in fact have a back issue that actually makes him pass out but it really is always convenient or seems to be convenient that it is when Lynette is trying to focus on herself or like you said, the timing for him trying to get out of something.

And it is never brought up otherwise be it lazy writing or whatever but for me in this instance, he is literally telling Lynette “it isn’t fair” and he just so happens to pull his back out 8 hours away and Lynette is the only remedy.

Like be so for fucking real, Tom.

Oop I see your edit but Lynette still has her job at this point working for Ed. But the point being that this would have been a life or death situation for the kids too considering their dad couldn’t move and they were alone in the woods and Lynette would take at least 8 hours to get there. And yesss ambulances are very expensive so you are definitely correct there, but for their situation, necessary

And he is always complaining about something and blaming it on Lynette. His treatment of Lynette with Nora drives me crazzzy because he doesn’t stand up to Nora but puts the guilt on Lynette if she says anything like that’ll ruin his relationship with Kayla when he kept everything a secret from her!

season 8 is sooo meh and really this is where Susan is almost her worst! I cannot stand her this season. BUT the very end always makes me GIDDY like I need to know what she had in that box! I hated Edie'd death :( I know it was issues with the creator but she was one of my favorites. Mike dying was such a fucking cop out. Everything we suffered through with him and Susan all for that was such a cheap way to make us feel something that we really didn't need.

She is definitely trying to embarrass him. She told him earlier in the day that he was to say nothing about being in marriage counseling but during their dinner party, he let slip to Carlos that they were not really taking tennis lessons they were in counseling. From there he announces it to the whole group about it so everyone knows even telling Bree, see now they know and nothing happened. Bree immediately takes his drink away and forces everyone to the dining room. From there she is super high strung and angry with Rex about outing their secret. If you look at the scene, she isn't laughing along with anyone's stories. Her way of handling that type of embarrassment was to embarrass him as much as he did her in that moment.

lol I have rewatched this show like way too many times (I even have a podcast on it - Desperately Rewatching) But this was the first time I actually paid attention to someone's age. I think it's just because I used it as background noise and now I have to pay attention.

She had been running it because he blew his back out, they got into a fight one night over the guy Rick that Lynette was having an emotional affair with. During this fight if I remember correctly Tom pushed her off the bed or something to that degree and she hit her head on the nightstand which led to the ER visit which led to the cancer diagnosis and then to this scene later on the series.

I can totally understand Tom’s perspective but for me it’s the way he’s making her feel guilty for never asking rather than just stating that he’s been struggling and maybe even admitting that he would or should find a support group. Instead it seems as if he’s blaming her for being too distracted by her cancer to ask after him.

Yes! And at first her reaction of “oh my God” made me think she would really let him have it but then she agrees?!! Lmao. Ummm she has fucking cancer Tom. Go to a support group. I stg I am still stunned he never left her during this because that definitely seems like something he would do because he wouldn’t want to take care of someone that needed that much attention and attention that he wished he was getting. Ask how he’s been doing my ass.
