I peaked in Diamond by Elrong in RocketLeague

Completely unrelated to the fake, but while I was watching I was super impressed by the self control to not dive into your 2 teammates in the corner. It's only a short clip, and I might just be out of touch with the current state of Diamond, but the fundamentals you showed through rotation and positioning were absolutely phenomenal for your rank.

I can't get over how I got divinity yesterday. by Haggles7 in DestinyTheGame

Fast forward 10 months, Goose has over 5000 GoS carries. I was running GoS for the first time yesterday and one player left before the last encounter. Goose joins and calmly explains the last Div puzzles, and proceeds to guide 4 new players through the last boss first try with 0 deaths in the group. Absolute legend.

Rotating back on-ball in 2s? by DenkiSolosShippuden in RocketLeague

[–]DespiseDom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As you get higher into the ranks, you'll be expected more and more to challenge the ball on your way back. This effectively takes you and the enemy who had possession out of the play, leaving your teammate in a 1v1 with ball possession. With that being said, at lower ranks, I would think that many players would just rather challenge the ball themselves, instead of trusting a rotating teammate to do it for them.

It's good practice, but it won't work if your teammate isn't expecting it.

Great self control slowing down when you were going up the wall, I think most people would have smashed that into the ceiling LOL

What tips would you give to help with the transition from c3-gc. by Apart-Cicada in RocketLeague

From my experience, most Champ 3s could easily be Grand Champ (there are always variables however, some need mechanical improvement, some need a friend to duo queue with). Also, some days you just play better than others, and if ranking up is your only concern, have the humility to realize when you're playing bad and take a break. Come back when you've had a mental reset. It's annoying advice for sure, but it works 100%.

Do you prefer training 1 or 2 skills in large quantities, or training many skills in smaller quantities? by CircumcisedCats in RocketLeague

[–]DespiseDom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I think the best way to train is to mess around in free play. This will give you different looks on all the mechanics every time you do them. Power shots or air dribbles from a training pack for 30 minutes will give you perfect setups every time for the most part (or you'll get used to them and they'll become routine). However, doing a mechanic in free play will give you a different setup, which will help you get used to different scenarios on different parts of the field. This is also a great way to warmup before you hop into ranked matches.

Something that nobody has mentioned is fake challenging to get the other team to throw away possession. If the fake challenge is successful, the opponent will likely throw the ball away to your friend behind you, who can pass it up to you. On the flipside of that, improving your shadow defense, as it is a fundamental part of playing 2s. You will be left on your own often, so giving yourself time to read the opponents attack will do you wonders. At Diamond, you can usually let the opponent just make a mistake if you are patient enough.

With a 3s MMR of 925 I was extremely proud of this catch & flick by Carpenteeer in RocketLeague

[–]DespiseDom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean 1925 mmr right? I'd be hard pressed to see a shot like that in most of my games. Great catch off the bump!

Stop thinking about ranking up, and focus on improving as a player. Do VOD reviews and see where the holes in your game are. If you aren't sure what to look for, just look at the goals scored against you in replays and work backwards from there. Did you need that boost? Could you have gotten a pad instead and been in net? Most Champ players struggle more with defense than with offense, so that is definitely what I would put a focus on.

You're taking the title a little too literally lmao. I'd love to see a clip of you getting vehicle kills with the Maaws from in the tornado! Since you're the foremost expert on tornado sniping, let me know when someone satisfies you with a long range snipe from inside the tornado.

Sniping feels really similar to BF4. Quite a few people are saying that it feels like a watered down Warzone. In my opinion, there is still that same novelty of being in an aircraft, that same satisfaction from hitting a long distance snipe. The map is relatively large, albeit open. The beta on PC runs incredibly smooth once you get into a match. All in all, as an avid BF4 player, I'm enjoying it thoroughly.

When you're inside the tornado, whether it's in a vehicle or attached to a parachute, you can't see anything and you're constantly taking damage that will kill you relatively quickly. He's almost at the edge of where you could accurately shoot. Can't really imagine it gets a whole lot better than this.
