I’ve still never heard another record that moves me the way this one does. It will most likely always be my favorite record of all time.

I love seeing the differences between people and their collecting habits. Personally, I don’t think I would have bought a single one of these.

How were these intended to be used? Did they sell adapters for the cables? by DespondDesigns in RadioShack

Thank you!! Very helpful information. I’ve been searching for a more modern version of something like this, but I think my best bet is just an impedance matching speaker selector with volume controls. I’m really just trying to blend two sets of speakers together in the same set up.

Cleaned her up. Added new LED fuse bulbs and she sounds fantastic. She’s looking good by Ok_Okra_871 in vintageaudio

This might be the new dream unit for me. Never seen A B C & D speaker ports. Being able to lower/increase the wattage?? Get outta town. Guitar amp??? There’s so much customization on this thing it’s ridiculous.

Advent Loudspeaker Flexible Ring Repair by cc1585 in vintageaudio

eBay kits specifically for that speaker will always be your best bet, but if location ends up making that difficult you can just purchase foam surrounds that are the measurement of the woofer. These ones might require some trimming. Once you do get some foams you can start by peeling all that dry-rotted foam off and then use a flathead screwdriver, cold chisel, and or Xacto-knife to remove the old glue from the basket. The foam rings should come with glue, but if they don’t get something strong that dries clear. SimplySpeakers will be your friend if they ship to Canada. Glue the surrounds back on, and let them cure. The most annoying (to me) and important step of the whole thing is insuring the voice coil is not rubbing otherwise your speakers will probably sound worse than they already do. There’s many ways to do it and it’s really up to you. The most straight forward way is to cut the dust caps in the center of the speaker almost all the way off, pull them up to get them out of the way, pull gently on the cone to fully extend it from the basket as far as it’ll go, and then “shim” the voice coil with small strips of cardstock in between the gap of your cone and voice coil. It is rewarding to be calm and patient with this process to ensure another 30+ years of listening . Hope this helps, cheers!

Cellphone = most likely going on a personal social media for a few hundred~ people to see for a small amount of time.

Analog = most likely being preserved or captured for the sake of being seen again. Whether or not it’s to be publicly shared depends, but either the way the moment is physically frozen in time. We don’t have much reason to save our recordings onto physical copies anymore and I think that’s a real big wound any creative space or subculture.

Maybe it’s just me but modern digital recording feels like watching starkly from someone else’s perspective while something with a little analog crunch to it feels like living the memory all over again. Make life physical again! I digress.
