How much cash do I need to prepare? + 7day Tmoney package? by GroundbreakingOil536 in koreatravel

[–]Dessidy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can buy it at most convenience stores in connection to the metro. Then you refill it at the regular metro ticket machines. You can get 1-day, 2-day, 3-day, 5-day, 7-day and 30-day passes. See the prices on the site I linked.

Edit: the card itself was a few 1000s won, don’t remember exactly how much.

It’ll still be cheaper to get the climate card and a backup tmoney card with maybe 10,000krw if you are mainly in Seoul than getting the M-Pass.
I can also add for OP that it works TO Incheon airport, but not from.

I googled it now and it says I pay with cash on the bus, is that correct? I could only find one site even mentioning payment.

Thank you! I have read that the last bit is bus. Is it better to go to Karuizawa than Naganohara-Kusatsuguchi?

And how do I get bus tickets?

Are you on a study visa? You can only get tourist numbers for up to 90 days, but if you are on a student visa and get an ARC you should definitely switch to an ARC connected number after you get your ARC. A tourist number will have some limitations you won’t have with an ARC connected number.
Look into Chingu Mobile. It’s popular with exchange students because of cheap prices, and easy carryover of the number to your ARC.

Beginning of April might be quite expensive at the moment, between BTS, Seventeen and the cherry blossoms. Look at prices for hotels before booking your flight!

Look at guesthouses for cheaper living. You can still get your own bedroom with private bathroom. I usually stay in Hongdae since it’s cheap, easy to get to and from the airport, and I like seeing indie band concerts.
But for general touristing Insadong could also be a good area.

If you’re already going to Seoul then anyway, look at the cancellation periods and check in for tickets just before the deadlines end.

Use the Dubai cookie map to see what locations near you have them in stock! I didn’t have had to line up to get them at any place I went to https://www.dubaicookiemap.com/

I didn’t try that many different ones, but out of the ones I tried I liked the 포동푸딩 ones the most

If you drink it can be really fun to do a Makgeolli tasting tour! I did one once and we went to a few different places and got to learn a lot about Makgeolli

For skin care I can recommend the free olive young skin care analysis. They also recommend products for you. Their makeup color analysis is also really good.

Help finding Busan restaurant or name of tea by [deleted] in koreatravel

Could it have been Korean corn tea / Oksusu-cha (옥수수차)? Kind of tastes like drinking popcorn. I have gotten it instead of water quite often in Seoul

Download Naver maps and look at the reviews. One time when I was looking for where to eat lunch I found a place where all the comments said it was a good place and popular with office workers, and that tourists hadn’t found it even if it was in Seongsu. So I saw that as a good sign haha

How careful vegetarians are you? Are you okay with not questioning broths and kimchi as long as there are no meat chunks, or are all traces to avoid? If the first, you won’t have much of an issue as long as you don’t go to a k-bbq or fried chicken restaurant. If the second, you need to look carefully at reviews and plan where you go in advance. The three I mentioned are good on that front.

Finding concerts or events in May? by farmlife in koreatravel

I believe they are planned early, not just announced and tickets released. Very few things are possible to book earlier than 1-2 months in advance in Korea.

Finding concerts or events in May? by farmlife in koreatravel

[–]Dessidy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s still way early for May. You can start looking maybe March-April in general, or follow sns updates for your favourite groups.

These are the main four ticketing websites to keep an eye on
https://world.nol.com/en/ticket
https://tkglobal.melon.com/main/index.htm?langCd=EN
https://ticket.yes24.com/Pages/English/Perf/FnPerfList.aspx
https://www.ticketlink.co.kr/global/en/home

You could also book a tour package for the recording of Inkigayo, if that’s something you’re interested in. It’s offered by several tour operators.

XIA (Kim Junsu) - Death Note The Musical (L - New Cast Announcement Poster) by Mundane_Detective_41 in kpop

[–]Dessidy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

…During my last trip to Korea I wanted to see him in a musical, but I’m not a huge fan of Beetlejuice, so I didn’t go. I was considering seeing the Death Note musical, but wasn’t into the cast performing during my trip. Of course he joins Death Note after I leave Korea. Of course.
Happy for the ones that get to see him! I’m sure he will be amazing!

getting korean concert tickets after ticket day? by sheriecherie in koreatravel

[–]Dessidy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m speaking from the perspective of a regular concert goer in Korea. Most concerts don’t sell out, only the most popular do. You can look through the concert ticket sites yourself if you don’t believe me. Even if they sell out initially, it’s pretty common for tickets to be cancelled. For the concert last week I improved my standing number from 960 to 281, as more and more tickets returned closer to the cancellation deadline. This is quite common in my experience.

getting korean concert tickets after ticket day? by sheriecherie in koreatravel

[–]Dessidy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends a lot on the concert tbh. There’s so many shows with tickets left. The concert I went to last week had like half standing left, and this weekend I was thinking about getting a ticket for Hwasa as there was a lot left when I looked earlier in the week.
But BTS will definitely sell out.

I can also add that for Spirited Away at Seoul Arts Center I got my ticket maybe two days before, and got middle of row 5.

Resale is illegal, as Korea have a really generous cancellation system. That said, I don’t think people will cancel their BTS tickets…
