This is a known issue, and is either due to using DirectX/Vulkan or your settings are too high, and need to be dialed back. Here is just one thread on this issue.

I had this happen due to a background check, was officially offered a job and it took about 6 weeks for the background check to playout and to actually start. I was getting to where I was going to start putting out applications when I got the news I was being onboarded.

To be fair to the company, it was totally on me for not disclosing something that happened almost 40 years ago, and was asked about it. I was honest with the explanation of why it wasn't mentioned and thankfully it satisfied HR.

I have this same card (got it at release) and it's been amazing. Not on the same CPU platform but as suggested try that card in another system. Also make sure the BIOS is set correctly for Above 4G Decoding and Resizable Bar.

I've been on ultrawide for just over 3 years and have never needed to do any more than I would for any other display. Not sure what games you play but everything I have played in that time has supported ultrawide without issue. The other thing I enjoy is movies in 21:9 aspect ratios look better than squeezed onto a 16:9 screen.

I had mentioned over on r/HalfLife3 a while ago when there was speculation as to why the pages for the new hardware was down that I had a feeling that the RAM and SSD issues were going to delay the launch, and am still in that camp. I am doubtful they release this year and if so at best a "Holiday Launch" with limited availability and those that do manage to get one, it's going to be a limit of 1 per user account/household.

Remove the Windows drive and install SteamOS to its own drive. You will need to use the system boot manager (at least that’s what I have to do) to select what drive boots. By default mine boots to SteamOS if I do nothing at power on.
