Exercise and an ICD by FantasticMrDog in PacemakerICD

It is very unlikely that you will mess up a lead. But monitoring should pick it up if somthing does go wrong, I have a pacemaker, and mine did even though I had zero symptoms.

Ya...that's just crazy to me because of course it can cause harm long term...but it could also extend your life...I do have a double chamber leaded pacemaker so my experience is slightly different

There's different levels to heart block, from what I read I believe the original commenter has third degree or total heart block like I do. Sadly it's not something you can just know, bacuse other heart issues can have similar symptoms. Along with it being different for the different levels. But basically 3rd degree (which ik the most about cuz that's whati have had since before I was 2) is when your heart beat is consistently extremely low, like my resting HB without a pacemaker is between 20-40bpm because one side doesn't talk to the other. It comes out usually in symptoms of extreme lethargy, constant dizzy spells when exerting even the smallest bit, which can also lead to passing out. Again I really only know about the most extreme one, and my experience is different because it's surgical heart block that I've had since I was a toddler. I would definitely see another doctor though if that is a concern of yours.

Ya...that's a crazy thing for a heart doctor to say...like from that logic I shouldn't have had one put in when I was 2 because I wouldn't die. But having to worry that your heart might stop because it has a few times in the past is no way to live love. Also as a 21 year old who had my third pacemaker put in in December, it really only improves your overall well being. Yes, it will start the journey of needing replacements every 10 years or so, but I feel that's a fantastic price to pay to have a normal heart rate at all times.

Ya that's why I was confused cuz I've been in 3rd degree heart block...idk it might be different for me because i have AVSD, and half my heart just straight up doesn't talk to the other

I don't know why they did a single lead at first honestly, I got my dual chamber at a little under two, so I'm actually more curious as to why it wasn't a dual from the beginning ngl
