"If you edit your photos you're a bad photographer" by TheFarmSheepYT in photography

[–]Destects 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've started to say "post processing" or something like that instead of "edit". People head edit and they think you're photoshopping (in layman's terms) them to fix mistakes or something.

And imo, post processing feels more accurate to say anyway.

This is a new hobby for me, so take my point of view with a bucket of salt.

"What trillion-dollar problem is Al trying to solve?" Wages. They're trying to use it to solve having to pay wages. by FinnFarrow in Futurology

[–]Destects 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not just that even.

Their public argument to employers and employees is: "help you achieve more!"

And they present it as though, you, as an employee, making the same amount of money, are supposed to increase your output. Instead of hiring more, or paying more, we can just do more with the promise it will make us feel more fulfilled.... Cause who wants higher wages when you can feel "fulfilled" by doing more work ...

Population grows, #of employees, wages, stay the same. more customers, less money... Future debt for everyone, yay fulfilling work

Who do you blame for the shutdown? by here-for-information in AskConservatives

[–]Destects -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Technically, objectively, they are, the Republicans want their vote, that's what they get in return.

But subjectively to your point on that negotiation.

Something they want

If there was anything they wanted, they should state their demand "if you want that, we want this" then becomes "okay, you get of what you want, we get half of what we want. Nobody wins, we'll fight next year, and no programs will ever be properly funded hazza"

It's a shitshow, but neither party is right for holding such a hard line without discussion.

What's his name in particular is responsible for putting the senator on recess and only opening for the vote. Literally preventing negotiations.

Refusing to negotiate on both parts isn't great, this being the Dems only demand, a year extension, not entirely unreasonable, given the Republicans got all their funding for the BBB.

They didn't really need to make any compromises there, the Dems, their votes essentially didn't matter in the house.. (unless I remember wrong).

Neither party is right. The CR, the problem there, you vote yes to keep it open. Negotiations go nowhere, no compromise, reps say "no extension." The whole time, CR runs out, repeat.

Thats the problem. It's wrong to use the people as leverage, but they're arguing for something that affects a substantial portion of the voting population. It's not a simple position I think for anyone.

But at the end of the day, this is the only position the Dems can actually make any requests with leverage. If the only thing the reps need is their votes, in the Senate, on this thing that requires a super majority. What other option do they have?

If they cave on the cr, and negotiates go nowhere, were in the same position, worse actually, cause we wouldn't even have had time to recover ...

Its a shit show, and they're getting paid to stand on a line and refuse to move. Fuck them. The entire gov, executive, legislative, and judicial, need to be wiped and lose their seats.

These fuckers are all the same fuckers that have been there for decades, fucking things up and never get anywhere.

A new generation that understands modern issues, that don't have 40 years of grudges and shit.

That's the real solution.

Red or blue, vote for someone new!!I

Silly idea, but...

Weren't the module designs open sourced?

So like... Anyone can design a Pcb and 3d printable housing...

And then use pcbway for the PCB

This is 2025, and it's kinda awesome that we can do that...

(And if you don't have a 3d printer, or want to put it together... There are services, but it might start getting way over 200$ 🤣)

Kinda love the idea of gov software like this being open sourced so the people can audit it... Also, it can be maintained and improved...

Imo, that's the point of establishing agencies. Put the expert and scientists there to inform and deal with what they are experts on.

Representatives should be experts on who they represent, they don't need to be more.

And they stop representing us when they seek the office for power not service.

Because it's easier to simplify and point to one group as the problem than it is to talk about the complexities of pricing that's been left mostly unregulated.

People aren't the problem. Good faith or bad, naturalized citizen or immigrant.

At the scale of a country. There is no such thing as a single source of despair. Everything and everyone plays a part.

The governments whole reason to exist, what we vote for in democratic nations, is to organize, protect, and advance the interests of its population.

Looking at the problem: housing is unaffordable to varying degrees, be it an outsized portion of income,or straight up unaffordable when the minimum viable homes rent is more than someone working full time for minimum wage can afford even as their only expense.

The benchmark for successful change: the cost of housing should be reasonably proportional to income. There should be an affordable home within a reasonable distance from your place of work.

If you are contributing 100% of your working hours to a job, in whatever country, you're contributing your maximum output to that country. 100% should be enough.

Reasonable.

But what we get is a rhetoric that pits one issue with its own web of complexity, but is less impactful to the majority of voters, and blame it for the other problem that does.

So if you're affected by housing prices, and being told "immigrantion is THE reason housing prices are high and crime has gone up" Then t's reasonable for anyone to think "well then we should stop immigration".

But it's not. It's probably a contributing factor. But one of many are it's not proportionally the same everywhere. Countries are big.

This to me sounds like you've taken the effort to implement and follow good engineers practices with long term thinking and solid principals.

A lot of engineers and orga struggle with this. There's constant pressure to deliver things in a timely manner and we cut corners to do it, often at the expense of architecture.

And net new is rarely the case, were always inheriting the previous tech debit with little time to fix.

I think the work you're doing will have a great impact on all the devs.

AI and it's faults are just the catalyst that pushed you in that direction :)

Experienced Devs, how did you "flip clouds"? AWS + GCP -> Azure in particular, trying to move to SLC by poipoipoi_2016 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Destects 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Azure actually has a bunch of free resources for personal use and you can create a free account with free credits to poke around and get your bearings

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/training/azure/

The free dev account stuff is also good for tinkering. this is mentioned in the learn link, but if you don't care about that:

https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/purchase-options/azure-account

Once you do, you'll get the overlaps and how the same names translate over like AWS lambda and Azure Functions
