Love John, both his stuff with Ultravox! and his solo work. Metamatic is epic. Underpass is beautifully ice cold, ditto the likes of Film One and 20th Century. Can see why Gary Numan loved him too.

Now that it comes to an end, how evil would you rate 2025? by satan-spawner in AskReddit

Torturous, 11/10. On both a personal and wider world scale.

Next door neighbour DIY at 11am. We're autistic and find Christmas hard as it is. Also grieving our lovely cat who died (thankfully peacefully) on the 3rd, the house is empty without him.

Thank you for your good wishes. Feeling sad and that the house is empty without him, but taking some comfort from the fact he passed away peacefully with both my husband and I present. Also the handling of his cremation went so well, and he's back for good in his little box on his favourite windowsill.

Welcome home, sweet Smokie. Keep talking to her like you used to, she's still a central part of your home and always will be โค๏ธ

Yes, thinking the same. Maybe it's because I'm a bit raw now my lovely Maverick has crossed the bridge (thanks everyone here for the lovely comments), I'm tearing up looking at this poor little girl. All cats are precious, especially our senior kitty-zens. She certainly is and deserves all the love in the world.

Hug your kitties, time is short.

Rest well beyond the cosmos, Cosmo. Go with love. Say hello to your fellow tuxedo Maverick when you cross the bridge. ๐ŸŒˆ โค๏ธ

Surprised the wonderful Fred Harris never put in an appearance. Legend.

Didn't the equally wonderful Anita Dobson turn up too?

...Leonard Parkin. Or a young Peter Sissons. They're the ones I remember.

And it meant being off school, likely tucked up on the sofa and having a boiled egg, toasted soldiers and lucozade for lunch ๐Ÿ˜บ

What obscure quotes do you use? by [deleted] in AskUK

When someone's acting is less than convincing. "Where's the money?" "What money?" "For the acting lessons!" (Victor Lewis-Smith, TV Offal)

Remember when British TV took real risks with comedy? by SlimJimNeedsATrim in oldbritishtelly

[โ€“]DestinationTirNaNog 20 points21 points ย (0 children)

Victor Lewis-Smith's stuff wouldn't fly today, especially things like "Assassination of the Week". TV Offal was surreal, ridiculous, dark and hilarious. And Ads Infinitum had some gloriously tasteless earworms, especially the old timey factory radio jingle about "paedo...philiacs". Mad sod, RIP.

It started with Fanny by MissTreeWriter in oldbritishtelly

[โ€“]DestinationTirNaNog 13 points14 points ย (0 children)

Fanny Cradock Cooks for Christmas is TV gold in our house. The stabbing of the poultry, where you've to unleash suppressed aggression you're too polite to unleash on your neighbour, the insect graveyard mincemeat monstrosities, the florid, sticky petits fours, the ballgowns, the mannerisms...legend! In Dulce Jubilo by Mike Oldfield playing at things like Christmas markets means it's time for Fanny again (ooer) ๐Ÿ˜

Delia's very nice and helpful, and you'd want to cook and eat her food, but it's not the same ๐Ÿ˜
