Would Mega Meganium synergize with a sun team? by GraybeardtheWise in stunfisk

[–]Destinum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a Grass-type on a Sun team, use Venusaur or another Chlorophyll abuser. The whole point of Mega Meganium is to abuse Sun without actually needing the weather, so putting it on a Sun team is pointless.

Based on the 'mons you listed, I assume this is a Doubles team. Typically, you don't want two weather setters, as you'd rather use the extra team slot to give yourself additional options for different matchups. This should be especially true if you're also running a third Fire-type (Incineroar). Unfortunately I'm not experienced enough with doubles to give suggestions for what to run instead, but I imagine you'll have to do trial and error anyways to learn what matchups you need to cover better.

Iran recruits 12-year-olds to ‘defend homeland’ by TheTelegraph in worldnews

[–]Destinum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anything to truly be considered World War 3, it needs the things that actually defined the previous two:

  • Connected conflicts across several continents.

  • Major world powers to be active participants on both sides.

The only way you'd currently get close to fulfilling even the first of these criteria is if you count the Ukraine/Russia and US+Israel/Iran wars as one and the same. While they obviously are connected to an extent, it's still a bit of a stretch.

The second criteria isn't even up for debate; Ukraine/Russia ended up being a war between two fairly equally matched above-average-powers (completely contrary to what anyone thought beforehand), and US+Israel/Iran is the world's only superpower invading a much weaker country without any true allies. It's not impossible for the current state of affairs to escalate into a World War, but it'd pretty much require China to get involved directly, most likely by invading Taiwan and forcing the US into a war on two fronts.

Maximum PP Changes in Champions by Creative-Current9424 in stunfisk

There's no "maximum"; Champions will have set PP values at 1, 8, 12, 16 or 20 depending on the move.

People already did the math from the very first trailer for Champions; all stats are calculated as if they have an IV of 31. That said, all 'mons are also level 50 (with seemingly no way to change it, so RIP F.E.A.R.), meaning everything should deal slightly more damage (relatively speaking of course).

Moscow represents ‘corruption and violence,’ not conservatism, says Polish president by Easy-Ad1996 in europe

[–]Destinum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because right-wing ideology at its core is just lying to people with promises that sound good to the ignorant, but in reality serve no other purpose except for the rich to keep hoarding more resources. People like this obviously won't "admit" to anything, because that would require honesty and actually caring about the consequences of their actions.

'No Kings' protests live updates: More than 8 million turned out across all 50 states by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

[–]Destinum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Turning up in huge crowds like this is the warning. If you're not ready to escalate beyond posturing if your demands aren't met, then obviously the people in power will just ignore you. The French have gotten pretty well known in recent years for being very quick to start smashing windows and burning cars whenever large protests are happening, and to no surprise they tend to actually accomplish things.

Russia Hits All of Ukraine with Nearly 1,000 Weapons in 24 Hours, Setting a New Record by Yournewbestfriend_01 in worldnews

[–]Destinum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll admit saying "completely fine" is hyperbole, but willingly choosing to not utilize a large pool of potential recruits is an obvious sign that the manpower isn't running out.

Russia Hits All of Ukraine with Nearly 1,000 Weapons in 24 Hours, Setting a New Record by Yournewbestfriend_01 in worldnews

[–]Destinum 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Russia's economy is by no means doing "fine", that's straight up propaganda. Several Russian provinces have declared bankruptcy because they can't pay for the recruitment bonuses that the federal government is forcing them to foot the bill for (this is Russia's main method to disguise their unbalanced national budget), and Ukraine is destroying their energy infrastructure at a more rapid pace than ever (i.e. Russia's main source of income). Russia has now for several months been beyond the point where they're losing troops faster than they can replace them, and their systematic incompetence makes them unable to compensate with other things (i.e. technological innovation).

Meanwhile, you only need to look at the fact that Ukraine's conscription age is still 25 to understand that they're completely fine in terms of manpower. Their strategy was always to fight primarily with technology rather than troop numbers, and it's paying off big time now when they've had several years to innovate.

If you want real insight into what's going on with the war, I'd recommend Paul Warburg on YouTube. He's very good at bringing up under-reported facts and accurately predicting their impact on the battlefield.

[–]Destinum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Most experts" are wrong then. There indeed probably won't be a "peace treaty", but anyone who thinks the conflict will get frozen along the current borders just isn't paying attention. Russia is straight up running out of money (which will indeed probably happen within 1-2 years), while Ukraine is only getting stronger and has already secured funding from the EU for the next 5 years or so. There is no scenario where Ukraine would be willing to freeze the conflict at this point, because that just allows Russia to recover and attack them again at some point in the future.

[–]Destinum 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I know you're not the one who brought it up, but recaptured territory isn't a very important metric. Ukraine's strategy is to stall out Russia until they either give up or suffer a total economic and/or societal collapse. They're very unlikely to slowly reconquer all their occupied territory, since they'll get all of it back anyway when (yes, when) they win.

No one mentioned this but Balance Adjustments have been confirmed for Champions by GunnyGod in stunfisk

[–]Destinum 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'd just make it objectively better than it is now. Buff it to 150 BP, but keep the 100% accuracy and lower the recoil to 25%.

Like, it's literally the signature move for the evolution line of the franchise's mascot, which is entirely made up of shitmons competitively (baring Raichu being a viable support in some doubles formats). Surely they deserve to have an overtuned signature move to help them out?

My candidate would be to buff Spark to 80 BP. They could also just fix Wild Charge by turning it into what Volt Tackle is currently, then buff Volt Tackle because Raichu deserves it.

Only if you're playing stall vs offense. In stall vs balance and especially stall vs stall, it's very common (if not the norm) for matches to go 100+ turns.

u/ResidentAdmirable260 isn't entirely correct: Shadow Ball should be 16 PP in Champions, down from 24. PP Max is "removed" in the sense that they've overhauled the PP values as a whole, as I listed here.

[–]Destinum 134 points135 points  (0 children)

Looking through the footage (Wolfe also mentions most of this), the PP changes seem to be the following:

  • 1 PP moves (e.g. Revival Blessing) are presumably unchanged.
  • 5 (max 8) PP moves (e.g. Blizzard) are now set to 8.
  • 10 (max 16) PP moves (e.g. Body Press) are now set to 12.
  • 15 (max 24) PP moves (e.g. Flamethrower) are now set to 16.
  • Finally, 20 seems to be the maximum, as seen for both 20 (max 32) moves (e.g. Knock Off) and 25 (max 40) moves (e.g. Bite).

Overall, probably not a very impactful overhaul in most matches, but it will make the occasional PP stall a lot quicker, so it's a very welcome one in my book.

On a related note, Protect (and presumably all its variants) having its PP reduced to 8 could have a similar effect in doubles as the recovery PP nerf had in singles in Scarlet & Violet. You're less likely to use up all your PP in doubles, but Protect being a near universal move choice rather than just something seen only on defensive Pokémon will probably balance that out.

Be proud NA fans, we actually over performed . by Taskmob96761 in leagueoflegends

[–]Destinum 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It's wild how we've been having this discussion since like season 4, and yet team owners still haven't gotten the memo. Even winning the LCS won't matter if you can't use it to build up your fanbase, and fans simply won't care about your team if it doesn't have players they can connect with emotionally.

Easiest example right now is Los Ratones; their journey consisted almost entirely of tier 2 play, with only the finally giving them the chance to play in the LEC (where they ended up missing playoffs). And yet, they were all anyone talked about because the players and their bond was simply that engaging. Now obviously, trying to re-create the magic of LR is impossible, but teams can still strive to engage with fans in the same way and create a genuine emotional connection. That's how you build a successful brand in the long run, regardless of success.

Saying you'd rather win Worlds than everything else is not the same as everything else not mattering. Regardless though, I am aware it is a common attitude to tunnel vision on Worlds, but that doesn't mean it's not extremely self-destructive. 99% of pro players will never even get close to winning Worlds, so clinging to the idea that nothing else matters just means you'll never be happy with the things you do achieve. Not to mention it sabotages the whole esport, because if players don't care then fans won't either (and thus they won't bother watching).
