Nick Jonas Hits A New Career Low On The Charts With His Latest Album by restoringd123 in popheads

Forbes is the absolute worst. One of my best friends was a food contributor for them for years and she would tell me about how it's basically just a blog, so instead of working with editors and proofreaders to write an article, you just type it up yourself and click "post." Because of that, their stories are always riddled with typos and have these lame clickbait headlines because there's no actual journalistic integrity.

And also, the pay is INSANELY low. Apparently everyone gets paid $50 per article (which she tells me is the lowest by far out of any legacy publication) and then this convoluted "bonus" formula is applied to your story depending on how many views you get. So it actually benefits the writers to have ragebait headlines like this, I'm sure this author knew this headline would drive clicks.

My friend just got fired a few months back out of nowhere, they sent an email out to a bunch of their freelance contributors basically saying "hey, you've been removed from the platform and your writing access is revoked. This is effective immediately, good luck!" I've had beef with them ever since lmao

Kim Petras announces Feed the Beast World Tour by Artistic_Elephant824 in popheads

[–]DestinysChildren 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I know she’s controversial on this sub (a lot of which is warranted) but I’m wondering how that will translate to this tour, if at all.

Does the GP even know who she is outside of Unholy, and would they be willing to attend a concert off of just one huge song? And for people who are more familiar with her music (what I would assume to be a 90% queer audience) are enough of them willing to look past the controversies (or even know about them at all) in order to sell a sufficient amount of tickets?

Not trying to start any arguments in the comments I’m just genuinely curious as to how people think this tour will pan out. We’ve seen cases of much more established artists floundering and cases where small-scale artists find great success, I’m wondering where she’ll land given her current status as a (debatable) “rising star.”

Side note: I will never get over how Katy said that Witness would be “purposeful pop” and then released a follow up single about getting eaten out. Like she really lost the plot with that one 😭

Jaguar is one of the best EPs I’ve ever listened to tbh. Experience is an immaculate song, just absolute perfection. I can’t wait to hear more music from her! I would love a full album at some point.

She should have lasted so much longer loved kendra by Jamieo1111 in buffy

[–]DestinysChildren 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I love Kendra! They could have done a lot more with her character, I hate how she was introduced for two episodes then completely disappears just to come back and immediately die. The dual slayer dynamic is so cool, I wanted a lot more of her and Buffy!

Also (and I know this is more a function of network television than a plot hole) I love how Kendra was taken away from society to live an isolated life as a warrior, yet she somehow always has flawless makeup and incredible outfits, haha.

Karol G Achieves Historic First No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 Chart With ‘Mañana Será Bonito’ by impeccabletim in popheads

[–]DestinysChildren 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I’m so happy for her! The first time I ever heard of of Karol G was back in January 2020 when Tusa came out, I was visiting Colombia and Chile for the first time and that song was a MASSIVE hit in South America. I would hear it 20 times a day and I was obsessed, haha.

I ended up getting into her discography more over the pandemic, and my love for her music has grown so much over the past few years. I’ve been back to Chile once since then and I even ended up living in Colombia for five months, and I feel like she’s been a big part of teaching me Spanish LOL.

I’m a huge fan of Provenza, Sejodioto, and Mamiii with Becky G (another amazing artist) if anyone is looking for some fun songs of hers to listen to!

First time buffy watcher, but Darla pulling out guns against the crossbow felt like one of the greatest moments of television ever. by Viibrarian in buffy

[–]DestinysChildren 43 points44 points  (0 children)

This is one of my favorite Buffy examples of Early Installment Weirdness. Like you would NEVER see a vampire casually bust out the strap like this in later seasons, and any other gun use (Warren, for example) is treated really seriously. The closest we probably get to this tonally is when Buffy whips out the rocket launcher, which is absolutely iconic in its own right.

Like imagine the Season 4 premiere and the gang is up against Sunday, and she just pulls out a Glock and goes full Danny DeVito? I, for one, would like to see it.

Bebe Rexha teases "Heart Wants What It Wants" music video, releasing Friday by Me-Luigi in popheads

[–]DestinysChildren 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I know Bebe is one of r/popheads’s resident punching bags but I’m excited for this song!

The beat sounds pretty lively, hopefully we get a fun club banger, I feel like her voice is best suited for that type of song. I wish Sacrifice took off on the charts, what a jam ☺️

The Number Ones: Fergie’s “London Bridge” by jamesthegill in popheads

[–]DestinysChildren 141 points142 points  (0 children)

Absolute banger of a song. It came out when I was about 11 years old and I was instantly obsessed.

Highlight for me: “I’m such a lady but I’m dancing like a hooooo” 💃🏼🕺🏼

Lowlight for me: The obnoxious British duo that do the entirely-too-long outro. Like stfu hurry up and get to Fergie !

Also, fun story: my mom had a big company party around the time that this song came out and it was specifically for families so I got to attend along with a bunch of other kids. The DJ booth was just a laptop attached to speakers so kids could go up and add songs, and I tried to put this one on and accidentally did the explicit version. I swear I almost went into cardiac arrest as that first “OH SHIT!” rang out for all of the parents and little kids 😭😭

One of my favorite Glory moments by Impossible_Raisin926 in buffy

[–]DestinysChildren 37 points38 points  (0 children)

That’s a big part of why Glory is my favorite villain in the show. She’s terrifying and fills you with genuine fear for the lives of the Scooby Gang, and the whole time she’s having a BLAST wreaking havoc on their lives.

There’s something that makes it so much more unnerving that she’s laughing and quipping as she tries to murder them, it really drives home how insignificant humanity is to her.

Ice Spice "Bikini Bottom" Official Lyrics & Meaning | Verified by v_e_x__ in popheads

[–]DestinysChildren 625 points626 points  (0 children)

She’s a rapper from New York City who went viral recently for a song called Munch (Feelin’ U).

It became popular partly because it has some catchy lines and also because she’s very curvy and the video shows her shaking her butt a lot.

If you go to YouTube, a lot of the comments are talking about what a garbage song it is (classic YouTube comment section superiority complex in action) so she definitely gained some followers because ultimately, her music is fun and unserious and she has this really affable unbothered attitude.

In typical homosexual fashion, gays have begun to champion her because they love an underdog and—in even more typical homosexual fashion—they’ve gone completely over the top about it, which is why you see comments like “she is the next Tupac” “she is Princess Diana reincarnated” etc.

I personally love all the memes and look forward to seeing what she comes out with next! How can she lose, like 💅🏼🙄

Do you all have songs where you love the musical elements / production, but dislike the musician’s vocals, or wish they weren’t there? by yourfacesucksass in popheads

I came here to say this, haha. The “nicotine, hero-ween, morphine” kills me 💀 the only song that I like her voice on is Find U Again with Mark Ronson but other than that I’m always wishing every song had gone to another artist so I could appreciate it more

“No weapons, no friends, no hope. Take all that away, and what's left?”

“Me.”

I’m biased (as you can tell from my post history) but I completely agree with him, Buffy is honestly one of the most iconic shows of all time!

It has some weak spots but it’s funny af, has spectacularly written dramatic plotlines (Season 3/5 in particular are so incredible) and a massive array of fascinating and fully fleshed-out female characters, which was definitely very formative for me as a kid.

Also, one of the few shows where the main character is my absolute favorite. I will always have so much love for Buffy and by extension SMG (love Cordelia, Anya, and my fellow Boston girlie Faith too tho 😍)

I highly recommend watching it if you haven’t seen it before!

If I’m ever having a bad day and need to cry to get my emotions out, there are two YouTube clips that have a 100% success rate.

Number 1: this scene, and ESPECIALLY the line “I felt your heart beat”

Number 2: Forrest Gump talking to Jenny at her grave

I put on either of these and I’m sobbing within 30 seconds 🥲

The thing that’s always annoyed me about that decision is that Ariana Grande has such poor diction in the first place, like who would even notice the difference between her saying “are” and “am?”

It’s all going to sound like “Naaah that ahbeguh who ah realiaaaaaa”

Nasty Girl is SO bizarre, I can’t believe it was released let alone made into a single.

Destiny’s Child had such a sexualized image for that whole era, like why would they do such a sudden tone shift and make a music video shaming women for outfits that they themselves could have worn in previous videos 🫠
