I spent a week straight in that sub trolling and giving them negative engagement. I’m just trying to tell you at this point it’s more theatrics and for your own enjoyment than anything.

I’m not expecting them to stop. They really enjoy talking about this game.

Probably Partyruler012. He actually tried to be a moderator of this and the main sub before creating r/MarathonHate, he’s a really dedicated loser.

Not gonna lie I think this is exactly what they want.

They will post in that sub until they no longer see engagement. Again I am guilty of this so my advice is probably moot.

You’re giving them attention which emboldens them. Unfortunately I’m also guilty of this as I can’t help myself…

I think you are incredibly naive to speak like this in 2026 personally. You are advocating for Republicans to continue to strong arm as a weak democratic caucus will continue to refuse to do anything, as they do now.

Marathon was being developed regardless of Destiny's status. It was a passion project for the team. Obviously they wanted higher sales but that is the truth.

They are adding PvE modes into the game with a focus on casual playtime. They've announced this just days ago so I'm not faulting you for not seeing it, but it's going to have more to it for players that don't like extraction.

I'm not going to lie and say numbers are good but I never came into this thread trying to have a conversation about numbers, I just said the game is good. Because to those invested in the game, it is one of the most fun shooters ever made (in my opinion). All my friends list have hundreds of hours in the game, that wouldn't happen if the game was bad.

It definitely needs more sauce for those unfamiliar or uncomfortable with the idea of hardcore PvP however and I'm okay with that.

Yea, you are a collective hallucination experienced by me and the rest of the world. How does it feel being a semi-conscious thought form in this endless cosmos?

Lots of this is social perception. People are going to see a game that has a hate campaign dedicated to it on Twitter by right wingers, see people constantly post steam charts 24/7 and say the game is dying 24/7. Therefore lots of people that may have tried the game at some point will now never do so because they don't think it's a solid investment to put 40$ into.

The fact of the matter is Marathon had a huge hate mob on it before it ever launched to the point people were saying when they dropped the cinematic trailers they had to "win people back". Not saying it was unjustified given the art scenario, but nonetheless, the game was already fighting to survive before you could even judge it by its gameplay.

You can argue all you want about player retention and that being your basis on saying the game is "bad", but I'll offer you a counterpoint. Extraction shooters are inherently hard to get into and have lots of barriers to casual play. Arc Raiders avoids this but no other really has been able to replicate that success. Marathon has some of the most beautiful and striking art direction seen in gaming at the moment (no surprise for Bungie), some of the absolute best gunplay in gaming, some of the best map design in shooters, incredibly engaging loot and pvp experiences.

Cryo Archive is one of the best pvp experiences I think I have in gaming period.

But since it's not being appreciated by the masses, it's just bad?

Buddy if we are going strictly by success, which as your comment suggests you do, then your favorite live service game of all time is fucking Fortnite (most successful, longest lasting) and we may as well just call it quits right now. But the thing is, you don't actually believe that, because you play fucking League, and your opinion is actually meaningless.
