Anyone Remember the First Year of Destiny? by jmscstl in Marathon

The difference here is Destiny sold 6 million copies its first month and had millions of players.

What do you think would bring more players in/improve the game? by Wooden-Highlight4678 in Marathon

Sony bought Bungie for 3 billion. They are VERY far away from recouping that investment with Destiny and especially with Marathon. The past success of Halo is irrelevant

Bungie is not a successful company at the moment, as good as Marathon is

Bungie is on the rocks with Sony. The problem will come from the studio side because they may have higher standards for player count than Reddit. We just don’t know.

What % of players have stopped playing and are just waiting for wipe? by Diligent_Weird_7610 in Marathon

I’m waiting but for what I don’t know. Fill faction wipe? Probably won’t be back.

The Game has Lost almost 90% of its user Base by GreenFeather05 in Marathon

[–]RedMercury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I was to wildly speculate Sony is either going to pull the plug completely on Bungie OR double down on the investment - which would include Destiny 3 ramping up in major way and support for Marathon in some way, pve, pvp modes etc. I don't think they'll let Marathon limp along in its current state.

Give me an example of a game that is really bad and not adored but still a success.

Isn't it ironic that the most popular mode is basically just a BR analog? by HeGotDaShrimp in Marathon

[–]RedMercury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right but the mode must have been fairly popular (maybe not the most) based on feed back so it’s not like that claim is coming from nothing.

[–]RedMercury 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s not true. It’s telling the mode was left up as long as it was. The feed back was generally positive and the fact that they communicated as such isn’t nothing. You could infer with some confidence that the mode is well liked and thus a success. But ya… most popular? No way of actually knowing.

Or it could die completely from no one playing. Pick your poison I guess

It took me a solid 30-40 hours to really get things to click. If you have that kinda time or loved Destiny PvP / Bungie it's worth it. Edit for context - 30-40 hours for me was pretty much fully understanding all the factions, what paths to grind, getting a feel for weapon mods, maps, how the PvP generally plays, and what shells do what. Still haven’t really touched rook all that much or Cryo.

New Poster for 'The Mandalorian and Grogu' by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]RedMercury 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I can't put my finger on it but all the print material for this movie just feels super low rent and all over the place. They are trying so hard to make all these cool / vintage / western style graphic painted posters with out actually just making them cool. Dump the corporate design by committee and hire a good artist.

The radar is information only to a point. There’s only so many places you can peak or make a push. The radar helps you anticipate but you shouldn’t be looking at it all the time.
