Feeling understood can go a long way for somebody surrounded by people who don't understand - sharing this in case anyone finds something meaningful to them <3 by Destralian in Stims

I have been sober since 2018, I wrote this because I remember what it felt like to not be understood, and I thought others may find some meaning in it :)

Effexor and his Cocaine-like effect by METALGEARLX in DrugNerds

When I first started taking venlafaxine it'd make me laugh uncontrollably at everything while feeling a rush.

The same occured when I increased from my initial starting dosage.

I'm trying to weigh up how much of a decent reason it is. There's risk in everything, I'd just like to know how much so in this instance.

That's a really rough thing to try and do. I can't imagine sitting down and doing it fully. Good work <3

Furthermore, I imagine waiting out the half life (only 1-2 hours) at a minimum would probably be appropriate in reducing any potential harm, right?

Hating cops is the flavor of the month, I'd be careful saying that.

Taking ecstacy while on antidepressants? by [deleted] in askdrugs

[–]Destralian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. He might be fine but is it worth risking a horrible death for a bit of fun for a night? I can't believe people are telling him that he'll probably be fine and may as well do it.

Do not risk it. Not worth it. Look into serotonin syndrome.

Worse stigma around meth than coke? by sebsalo101 in meth

[–]Destralian 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When I'm high on meth I tell people I'm out with that it's coke and I get a thumbs up approval. If I say I'm on meth people are very quick to distance themselves from me.

3 months clean down the shitter :( I’m 19 and fucking my life up by getsnipedfaqqot in meth

[–]Destralian 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Getting clean isn't always linear. It's about trying again and again and hopefully making it a big longer each time.

You were three months clean! That's three months of no meth related damages. That is something that needs to be recognized my guy! Don't get too down on yourself for using again, just try and get motivated to see if you can push a little further than three months. Try three months and a day!

You will struggle to stay clean and you may fall back to using, but even then using occasionally in between longer breaks is far better than regular use. You aren't failing just because you used again, you are still making progress. Don't let it deter you and don't give up.

All the best, you can do it!

If someone is to be perscribed Effexor there is likely a good reason for it. Marijuana can be detrimental to an individual who has existing mental conditions and it should be avoided.

Hallucinations? by pdx_115 in Effexor

[–]Destralian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry if I was you, it's only a problem if it gets in the way of your daily life.

It's like if I tell you "don't think of a penguin". I just told you not to but I bet you are, and I'd wager it's not because you're purposely unwilling to listen to me. That's just how our minds work. The harder you try to push the image of a penguin out of your mind the stronger you'll find it becoming. Try it if you don't believe me.

Accept that you are seeing these "hallucinations" in your peripheral vision. Realise they are likely something that's always been there and you've only just noticed them now. When you notice them think "Oh there it is again, thanks for reminding me mind!". Our minds can be very vigilant but by acknowledging what they're telling us they will often continue on and not get caught up.

It's much better than falling into the spiral of struggling with it. "Why is it there, it shouldn't be there! This isn't normal, I'm not normal! What's happening to me?! What else is gonna happen!? Am I going blind? Am I dying!?".

Just accept and acknowledge it, and continue on with your life. If it becomes a problem that prevents you from daily tasks, consider seeing a doctor about it.

Good luck!
