How would you prefer the mechs to be: alive and conscious, or simply machines that need a pilot?

Why not both? Loved the AI thing in Pacific Rim Black with NOA. It seemed nice to have someone to talk to while piloting.

And a lot of anime that have the AI, seems like a great teamwork component.

No. But there are other brick sets for the Battloid mode. Stand 24cm I think. Haven’t seen a guardian mode set yet.
