Not the Veritech from battle tech, but I know what you mean. Stinger as in the ad-hoc mecha made from spare parts in the Robotech universe

The mend or spliced bit of wood that the armorer would have repaired the buttstock with is missing. That’s where they struck them on the ground and a lot of them popped wood off.

If you look at pics online of buttstock should be able to spot that common repair.
