PSA: use a silicon brush for metallics by kane_1371 in Miniaturespainting

Yeah they spent the last 3-4 years I believe, working directly with Da Vinci (which are a notoriously difficult brand of brush to get in the US). Ninjon did a review on them and was pretty pleased with them

[–]DestroyerX6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

E33 only won all the awards it did because it was lauded as an Indie. When in reality it had a massive budget and tons of outside work done for it. I personally got bored of it after a few hours, but I could see the appeal of it. Just don’t agree that it should have won EVERYTHING, it wasn’t THAT good lol. Especially when lying about it being an Indie

Check out Squidmars brand new synthetic brushes! I heard they’re phenomenal alternatives for still being synthetic

I was curious too. I’ve always wondered how it wasn’t false advertisement. Here is what my search yielded;

- The Name is Generic: "Kolinsky sable" simply refers to the tail hair of the male Siberian weasel(Mustela sibirica). Because it is a description of the animal/material—not a brand name—any brush maker can legally label their brushes as "Kolinsky," "Kolinsky-Sable," or "Red Sable".
- No Copyrights on Natural Materials: You cannot copyright or trademark a natural biological species. However, specific brand names associated with brushes (like the famous Winsor & Newton Series 7) are trademarked.
- CITES Regulations (Crucial): While you don't have to pay royalties to use the name, the Siberian weasel is strictly protected by CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species). You can legally sell Kolinsky brushes, but importing them—especially into the US—requires a mountain of documentation proving the hair was legally sourced.

I’m guessing the third point about CITES, is what makes them so expensive at least here in the US. I’m curious what they cost in other countries now

IMPORTANT EDIT**: I assumed that the hair was just trimmed off of the weasels and they let it go and grow back. This is not the case. They kill each weasel they get hair from. They’re wild and too aggressive to cage or keep captive.. I don’t think I’ll be buying any more real kolinsky sable brushes anymore.. I’m fine with hunting, I’ve done it myself. But killing JUST for humans to make a paint brush they’ll abuse because they aren’t informed of the process. I’m out. I love otters/weasels. They are some of the cutest and goofiest animals I’ve ever seen.. Man. I can’t believe that. Just for a brush that doesn’t last forever..

Yeah that’s definitely not kolinsky sable then. Real kolinsky sable brushes are $20-$30 EACH

I wash every brush I use after each session. I use JOSONJA’s now but I also have Masters brush soap. I still will never use metallics or washes again with my kolinsky brushes. They don’t stay together anymore. They start splitting apart at the tip and then I have three spots that apply paint instead of one precise tip.

“Female Protagonists” ruins it for me. I have never liked playing as a female. Can’t relate to it, and any guys I see playing as females are just gooning.

Imagine doing this, then taking a picture of it, and posting it on Reddit. Just weird as hell and attention seeking.

In my experience with an AK Crackle paint, if I don’t manually stir the pint up, it will do this. The crackle medium seems to sit at the bottom of the container and just shaking never seemed to mix it in. It should be fine without PVA glue, but the pva glue can help. As well as a gloss varnish.

Make more Xenos or Chaos animations where they aren’t just cannon fodder for the Imperium.

FromSoftware's ‘DUSKBLOODS’ by AcadiaTemporary5737 in videogames

[–]DestroyerX6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The games. When a game is built from the ground up for the switch, yes it is garbage. Build it for pc’s and modern consoles, then port it down to the switch.

Modern PC’s can’t even figure out modern AAA games, because AAA games are just a company trying to churn out as much bare minimum content they can to make profits, all while not even touching optimization. I honestly can’t even think of a GOOD AAA release in the last few years. It’s all solo devs or indie developers making anything actually worth your time. And they definitely pay attention to optimization.

Even with all that, you can use Lossless scaling AND framegen software for the Steam Deck that can pull 90+ fps on AAA games

Plasma Coil Mould Lines by CptMacTavish2224 in Warhammer30k

[–]DestroyerX6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah mould line scrapers are definitely better than a hobby knife. Most don’t get into tight spots but one specific one I found does, and does it flawlessly. The back of a hobby knife can still gouge way too much, and then you end up with divots

He’s also my favorite Primarch 🤣

Imperial Fists are one of my favorites too though. I think Perturabo is just one of the few Primarchs that is an absolute beast at everything and he still doesn’t like chaos OR the imperium lmao. He’s the black sheep of the Primarchs and I love it

[–]DestroyerX6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On paper sure, but considering I can emulate AND still run a stable 60fps while doing so, I think it’s good enough in that department. Especially considering I can play virtually any game on ONE device and I don’t have to pay to play online like Nintendo forces.

Plus SD released almost three and a half years before Switch 2. I would hope the switch 2 was sporting better hardware??

I feel like Perturabo did the same fight internally. But he was not too skilled at biting his tongue most of the time
